Help tame give a cool answer at the tables

Posted Mon May 08, 2006 6:37 pm GMT by tame_deuces
So, you know the drill. You are playing someone and just took the pot down without a showdown and they ask you what you had in that tone of voice that tells you they had a hand.

What is the best answer? I have some options above but feel free to add your own.

"Sorry John, I don't remember."

"Wait a minute, I'm still stacking your chips."

"I'd tell 'ya, but then I'd have to kill 'ya."

"You're going to have to see it later on TV."

The nut low Laughing
I want to try this at my home game and see the looks on some of the guys faces.

"Couple of Jokers...They're wild, right??"

Posted Mon May 08, 2006 10:39 pm GMT by xDiamond_CutteRx
My answer is always "I had the nuts." That seems to get people going for some reason.

Posted Mon May 08, 2006 10:44 pm GMT by JackKingOff
"5 of a kind... 2s were wild right?"

Usually what I say is "Good Question".

Some excellent replies here, I feel the frustration of my opponents increasing allready. Twisted Evil

Just show one card that has nothing to do w/ the hand.

For example: you have J10 and flop is A 10 10 turn 4 river 9, show the J.

Posted Tue May 09, 2006 8:36 am GMT by UrAteUp
Don't say anything...don't show any cards..just look at him and smile a shifty devious smile...the kind that says...try me next time and find out.

I typically don't even care when they do this in this specific scenario. If there was a lot of action and all you show me is "Jack high", I never believe them anyways.

A good time to do what Dave suggests is when you get two pair or a set. You have A9 and the board is A J 9. You bet and he obviously hit at least the Jack on this hand, or had a PP bigger than 9s. Just flip over the 9 and watch their blood boil!

When someone asks me I just pull what that guy (I think his name was Bellande) did in the WSOP last year and say "Excellent Laydown".

Posted Tue May 09, 2006 8:51 am GMT by BeerWench13
"All reds."
or, my usual...
"2 cards"

Posted Tue May 09, 2006 8:57 am GMT by UrAteUp
I heard one at the casino the last time I was there...this older lady was asked by a younger guy what she had...she looks and says..."More balls then you to pull a bluff like that". Put the poor smuck on tilt all evening long... Laughing

Heh, the best I head was in deadwood

Guy goes, "Man if you didn't make that hand, I'd probably have won, but" and the older guy he's playing with cuts him off and goes, "Yeah, and if grasshoppers carried machine guns birds would starve"

That is pretty good Laughing

You could always pull the Doc Holliday and say "Must be a peach of a hand".

I used a new one last night.

"I had The Taint. It's basically lower than the nuts and it stinks."

Posted Tue May 09, 2006 9:31 am GMT by JohnnyCache
Now that is quality

I guess you can be forgiven for not having detected anything in like, 3 years...

Posted Tue May 09, 2006 9:36 am GMT by BeerWench13
There's always the classic "I'll show you mine if you show me yours."

Posted Tue May 09, 2006 9:56 am GMT by kingetje
hahah "the nut low".... that is priceless

Posted Tue May 09, 2006 10:19 am GMT by golddog
I had you in second place.

Noneya Smile

Posted Tue May 09, 2006 3:19 pm GMT by mangothebear
I like Golddog's.

A variation of that would be:

"I had you on folding"

Posted Tue May 09, 2006 3:27 pm GMT by BeerWench13
"Testicular fortitude."

I think that works even better when a woman says it.

Posted Tue May 09, 2006 3:31 pm GMT by Sean_in_NJ
I always used to do something like...

Me: Tell me what you had, and I'll tell you if I had it beat.
Them: <insert hand here>
Me: Wow! You folded that against ME? What are you, high?

Posted Tue May 09, 2006 5:38 pm GMT by suitedaces84
I like most of the replies so far. But I usually go with "obviously you weren't that curious."

Edit: Sean's reply wins.

Posted Tue May 09, 2006 8:53 pm GMT by scez
When you bluff and missed your straight, say "dont worry, I had the straight", then show your cards and act like your surprised.

Posted Wed May 10, 2006 4:01 pm GMT by jimmer
I think the ideal answer would be....

"I don't know, I never looked at them, but I've just worked out one of your tells. Thanks!"

Posted Fri May 12, 2006 10:48 am GMT by BeerWench13
I heard this response last night
"15 f'ing outs. You're one lucky SOB."
Later, when it was the other way around, the other said
"I didn't think my ducks were good."
the board was K Q T 2 2

Posted Sat May 13, 2006 2:02 am GMT by wEbMaStEr
"You beat"

Posted Mon May 15, 2006 9:17 am GMT by BeerWench13
"Probably the best hand, but I'll let you have this one."
