Hi all,
Just found this forum recently (lurking for the past couple days) and it seems like a good place to ask this question.
My friends and I have had a home game going for the last ten years or so, but with the explosion of HE recently, we all have the itch to play in a cardroom. Well, my brother's birthday is this weekend and we thought we'd all go out to one tomorrow (finally).
In preparation for the grand expedition, last night I drove out to inspect the cardrooms around north Seattle. My first impressions (without actually playing there):
Kenmore Lanes: Smokey, busy. The lady running the room said they get very busy on Fridays.
Parkers: Open seats, 5 or so tables, very friendly, high ceilings.
Drift-on-Inn: Cramped with low ceilings. No smoke at the time, but it looked like it would fill up fast. Friendly.
Goldies: Open, Bright. The guy running the room said they get wicked busy on Fridays.
Hideaway: Smelled pretty smoky. One person waiting for a game said as I walked in “You wanna play some poker?” Me: “Er…not tonight, thanks.” Him: “You wanna girl? (cackle!)” (I’m pretty sure he was just messing with me. )
So: we’re thinking Parker's.
I don't know if you have any Seattle players here, but anyone have good/bad experiences at Parker's?
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

So, no one’s been to Parker’s, eh? Well, for the sake of any Seattleites who visit this forum in the future, here’s my review:
1. They have 3/6, 4/8 and I saw one game of 9/18 (why didn’t they just go to 10/20?)
2. The rake was $3.
3. Five tables, up where the pool tables used to be. We had trouble keeping nine players at ours. Not crowded at all on a Friday.
4. All the chairs were straight out of Office Depot: Nice cush office chairs that reclined and had adjustable height and armrests. (Geez. They coulda at least sprung for the massage feature ).
5. Not smoky at all. They have nice high ceilings and good ventilation.
6. No free drinks. Buds were $1 though, if you could choke one down. Soft drinks were free but horrible. There was maybe ½ the normal amount of syrup in them. Where’s the profit in watering down coke?!?
7. They had a jackpot and a bad beat award. Don’t ask me what qualified.
One fellow who played at our table was either: A) Really drunk AND really lucky or B) Really good. If B, I wonder why he was picking on the 3/6 tables. He lost about $90 of his $100 buy-in over the course of a half hour. Then he hit a run and never looked back. When we left, he had about $350 in front of him. That's a lot of $1 chips. We nicknamed him Hoover.
I was up ~$80 before losing quite a bit on a couple of second-best hands. Played like a rock, though (once again, maybe too conservatively.) Ended down $34. Ah well.

There's a couple old threads about Sea-Tac gambling. Use the search button.
