'Common' 6-max problem

Posted Tue May 09, 2006 7:27 am GMT by tame_deuces
Low stakes Prima 6-max.

Hero is the bigstack at the table, haven't got any particular reads on the others since I'm multitabling...but they're kinda weak tight most of the time...and they open-limp with all kinds of junk.

Hero is on the button and dealt: 9 Heart, 8 Heart

UTG limps, folds,Hero raises 4x,SB calls,BB folds, UTG calls

Flop: 3 Diamond 8 Spade K Spade

SB checks,UTG checks, Hero bets 2/3, SB folds,UTG calls

Turn: 3 Heart

UTG checks, Hero...?

bet the same dollar amount that you didnt on the flop, then check the river.

I'd bet it one more time. He may be on a flush draw or be holding a 9 himself.

~1/2 pots, folds to a checkraise, checks behind on river.

Pretty much agree with the above posters here.

Thanks guys, that's pretty much what I thought too and usually do, but I was wondering if that was being to aggressive.

Checking on the turn opens yourself to all sorts of bluffs on the river.

I was gonna argue before I remembered it was NL.

In FL, this obviously doesn't matter. If you check behind on the turn, any reasonable villain has to lead the river a lot of the time. So, your turn check leads to an obligation to call on the river. It's only 1BB either way, assuming no turn C/R from villain.

Getting "bluffed" on the river in NL can be a lot more expensive. The turn bet here is really a blocking bet to get a cheap river with a hand with showdown value, if I'm understanding it correctly.
