I have encountered two players in the past week at online low fixed limit who called every hand for over an hour each (two different games). No matter what the raise, including one who called capped betting with 7-2 offsuit (and the bastard won it).
Is there some psychology or theory driving these guys or are they just two samples off the distribution curve of poker players.
Oh, a month ago ran into a guy who raised every hand preflop and at least called down to showdown. Wow. If there was a prior raise he reraised. He essentially elevated the stakes of the table. I had a particularly good run of cards that night.

Some players will win a large sum of money and then go to a smaller stakes table and mess around like the type of play you just described. It's stupid but some people get a kick out of it.

I sat down at a table .10/.25 no limit and a guy was doing this. he even said "i haven't folded in four days" lol. the amount he brought in just kept going up and down . up and down. truly amazing.

haha, when I read this I pictured some dude in a trailer somewhere in Nebraska with a wife beater on and a cigarette behind his ear all methed out having played poker for four straight days.
