We need a brag thread here!
I want to hear about people's most outrageous bluffs, thinnest valuebets, monkeytilting with 44 and pulling a 1 outer, checkraising turns with a gutshot and an over, about the time you pulled perfect value from your rockets, made the sickest read or just got plain lucky and pulled a monster pot.
So let's hear 'em! 8)

yesterday in a NL homegame, 6 handed... i was in the small blind... holding QQ.... blinds are €.05/.10 by the way.
a relatively new player in our homegame (absolute donk, calls you down with ANYTHING including ace high and any draw no matter how far fetched, yet always seems to end the night with profit however he does it. calls every pre-flop raise)
he raises it to €.80... everyone folds, i just call... as this guy almost NEVER raises pre-flop. flop 7-9-9... i bet out €2.50... he raises to €5... i put hinm on kings or aces and fold with pain in my heart.... and yep, he drops his kinkerbells on the table... damn that felt good
also, a pretty dangerous play/bluff that i tried yesterday and worked twice... this only works with solid players who kind of know about the style of play you have though... it was me and my brother heads up in a pot, i have position on him. i got 6-7... flop is 6-T-Q. he bets a potsized bet. i just smooth call... and i know this call is making him nervous as f*ck.. he knows if i have that queen i raise. and if i have a T or 6 i will maybe raise as well, otherwise i will probably fold. but a call is giving him some evil thoughts about me having a a strong hand; two pair, a set even.. so i know he will check the turn unless he has a really strong hand like i think he thinks i have... so as i expected he checks... and bang! time to take away this pot.. i bet out and he immediately folds... i did this play twice on him and both worked and made him lay down the best hand

I've posted both of these hands elsewhere, but since it's a bragging thread...
$1/2 NLHE cash game. I'm 2nd to act (2 hands left for the night-it has been declared). I look down and see 72o. I raise it to $15 and get two callers. I bet $25 on the flop (don't remember what it was now, but know I missed it completely), first caller folds and other goes into the tank for a while and finally folds saying disgustedly, "Anyone other than you, and I call that." I flip my 72 and he turns red from the neck up. Next hand I get JJ. I raise it to $25 from BB and get two callers (one is the guy I tilted the previous hand). Flop is K x x. First caller checks, I check and tilter goes all-in for $71. The other player folds, and I look at him and ask if he has a K and he nods. Then I ask his kicker and he says it's a 3. I say, "I believe you have the 3, but not the K. I call." He flips his A3s, and I take down a big pot on the final hand of the night.
In a casino in AC last year. $1/2 NLHE. I have QQ UTG. I raise it to $25 and it folds to a super TAG player who reraises to ~$50. Flop is J x x. I bet out $45 and he pushes over top. I go into the tank for a few minutes and finally say "Mad respect, man. I know you have A's or K's." and muck my Q's face-up. The look on his face was priceless as he flips over his A's and says, "How do you make that laydown? I was supposed to get paid on that hand." Best laydown I've made to date.
Best donk hand. I was drunk playing at home with a few friends and my neighbor. $.25/.50 NLHE. I have 92o in the BB. My neighbor (who still struggles with how many cards to deal ), raises it to $1. The hubby calls and I call. Flop is J 6 2. I check, hubby checks and neighbor bets $2. Hubby calls and I reraise to $8. She calls and hubby folds. Turn is a 7. I check, and she bets $5. I raise it to $15 putting her all-in. She calls and flips over KK. "Oops." The river is another 2 and I make the suckout of the century. Usually, we she and I play one another, she's the one catching her gutshot or backdoor flush draw on me.

Late last night I was playing online at a $0.05/$0.10 ring table. Villian A keeps going all in and most any two cards pre-flop. Everyone else is folding left and right to him. Even with solid cards people were folding. I fold all my garbage for about 2 rotations. Then when I am UTG I pick up KK. I was going to post a bet of about 5xBB. Instede knowing he was doing this all in crap I just called the blind. Hand gets to villian who pushes all-in. I was on the call button before his button stopped blinging.
We flips over Q8s. I roll over my KK. The Ks stay good asnd I doubled up.

I hit quads 3 times yesterday. Sevens, quens and kings. The kings and sevens I had pp and hit on flop. 8)
Posted Tue May 16, 2006 8:24 pm GMT by tame_deuces
Good quads there people, and I love these brag stories people. Keep 'em up.
On a related sidenote I lost with quads for the first time a few days ago, very confusing to see the chips go the wrong way. :D
Most annoying was that it was my fourth nine who made his straight flush (two holecards used btw).
Posted Tue May 16, 2006 11:53 pm GMT by Phil14312
I turned a 1-outer straight flush to take down quads.
6-max limit hold'em, I open-raise Q T from MP, cutoff 3-bets, blinds fold, I call.
Flop comes J J 9
Well I think I'm golden here, probably better than 50% to win from here. I check he bets I raise, he calls 8)
Turn: gin! 8 .
I bet, he raises, I 3-bet, he caps!!!!!
Now I think he has like 99 or something, I lead the river, he raises, I 3-bet, he caps! He flips JJ for flopped quads, I flip my straight flush. Too bad it wasn't live for the jackpot and the no limit to heads-up raises.

This one is not about getting shit lucky, it's about poker psychology. It happens to everyone, but it just feels so good.
Me:
A 3
Board:
5 3 2 2 K
Blinds are 40/80. Everyone else folded, except me and that guy. He's first to act. Action went: FLOP: Bets 100, I call. TURN: Check/Check. RIVER: He bets 300, I instant call. Why??
I've been playing with that guy for a while, and I had picked a few tells off him. Two of those are, when he looks down, he might not have it, and the other one is when he's playing with his chips before betting, he most likely don't have it. On that 300 bet, he did both. Instant call.
He had: J 4 I win.
Now, the thing is, I could've raised because I knew he was bluffing. But I wanted more than that. By calling, he had to show his hand, and I would have to show him that I instant called with bottom pair.
I completely destabilized him. He never been the same all night, and I suspect he will now give me a lot of respect from now on.

This hand was in a MTT that started with 45 players. It was down to 3 tables of 7.
Hero is BB with A Q .
It folds to the button who raises 3x BB. SB folds and I call.
I have him on a big pair or AK right now because I think he would've raised more if he was trying to steal.
Flop is K Q 7 .
This scared the hell out of me because I was pretty sure he was ahead based on my read, especially if he had KK or even QQ, though less likely.
I check and he bets the same as his preflop raise. I call.
I called hoping a would hit the turn and I could get him off of this pot.
Turn is 5 .
No help there.
I check, he checks.
River is 9
Okay, if I check and he bets, I'm pushing. If he checks behind me, I may have him with my pair of Q's.
I check, he bets 1/2 pot and I push over top (I have him covered). He goes into the tank. Finally, he says disgustedly, "My fault, I let you catch your flush" and he mucks his KK face-up.
He did not play this hand well at all, but it felt pretty damn good to outplay him on the river. I'm just glad he didn't check behind me. I wouldn't have taken 3rd in that tourney.

Last winter break, I think I made the perfect play with my A A .
I was on small blind, but everyone in front of me folded, so I asked out loud "wait, did all of you fold?", and they said yes. So obviously instead of raising pre-flop, I decided to just call the 10 cents ($0.10-$0.20 blinds), and BB checked.
Flop: 2 7 J
I was just hoping he wasn't playing 7-2 off or anything, but I checked anyways, to slow play my aces. The guy bets $1, and I show a little hesitation, but I call.
Turn: 7
I look back at my cards again, and check. The guy comes out with $4. Now I start to become concerned a little, since he may have a 7 in his hand. I just call the bet.
River: A
Now I've hit aces full, but decide to check to lure him in. He comes out with $5. I start playing with my cards a little, looking like I might be beat. I try to look like I'm bluffing, by raising $5 on top of his bet. One of my friends walks over to his chair and asks him to show him his hand. Then he says "Man, you have to all-in with that. You've got him beat. Did you look at the strain on his face?" He hesitates, but decides to push the rest of his chips in, which was $14. Since it seemed a little vague, I asked him: "wait a second, you're all-in?", and he says yes. I immediately called, and flipped over my A A , and he was very disgusted, since he had 2 6 in his hand.

Okay, in a homegame Laggy Larry is on the button when I'm in the BB, great. As usual he opens, I look down on 56s and against my better judgement I call, besides I want to see a flop. Flop comes A T 5. Great flop, no?
Naturally I check/call flop and and check/raise the turn all-in, because I just _know_ he is on air.
Laggy button thinks for a looooooooong time and folds AK face up.
I cough something about a AT and he grins happily knowing he made the right play.
Botch your read, play bad and get there!

I was proud of the bet size on the river, more than anything. Nothing too fancy though. The re-raise size is key, i guess.

I think the best I ever played a person was a move I NEVER MAKE, checking the river on a made hand into a guy who's been calling after I made my own hand, well this time it pays off huge. This happened a while back in Vegas.
2/5 NL cash game
I have pocket 9's in the SB, Button raises, I call so does the BB. Flop brings two spades along with my 9. I check planning to check raise, BB bets, button reraises, I decide to smooth call and take my chances with the turn, BB calls. Turn is another 9, I got a lock, I check again BB checks, button bets I make my move like I'm scared of the flush and reraise but not too badly hoping one or both calls. BB calls and the button goes away. River is a spade, perfect I put BB on the flush draw and now he's hit, I hum and haw a few seconds like I hate that card, I start to grab chips and then check saying "careful I gotta call", he moves all in...
I played that hand pretty much backwards from how I normally play big hands and it payed off that time.
Posted Tue Jun 13, 2006 12:23 am GMT by Jauron
Now for my lucky donk move.
I have again pocket 9's in the SB gets folded around to me, I pop it BB calls. Flop is Q, 10, 6 and I check knowing he's going to bet, I smooth call. Turn is another Q, I decide to make my move and bet the pot, he thinks for a minute and calls, crap I think I'm done with this hand. BUT the river is a 9. Now I think he might have the Q, but there is no chance he has the boat so I think for a minute and move all in, he quickly calls. He's got AQ and my betting into him on the turn like a donk got me a "free" card to catch my lucky 2 outer.

2 night ago, local casino (Santa Fe Station)
1/2 NL, 200 max buy in
I'm up to about $700, we're 6 handed
UTG +1, I pick up pocket aces
It's late, people are playing like shit and calling raises with trash, so I "only" 17 and a half bet it, I make it $35 to go.
Everyone folds, except for SB, who I snapped off about 5 times earlier, he's on like his 5th reload at this point. He calls.
Flop 10 10 9 with two hearts.
He checks, I check.
Turn is a black 6 or some crap like that, he goes all in for a little over $100, I immediately call.
We both turn our cards up, he does have the 10, he has 10 2 or some shit like that, I turn up my aces.
River-
yes, it was an ace, giving me aces full
The whole table oooooohhed and aaaaaaaaahed, everyone on every other table (2/4 and 4/8 limit, and another boring super tight 1/2 NL game) looked over at us, to see me with the biggest shit-eatin grin on my face, talkin trash to the guy I just snapped off for like the 6th time; while everyone else at the table was just saying "that's poker" and all that other crap you hate to hear when you lose.

very loose, very crazy home game with at least 3 maniacs. I sit down at a full table, with the max buyin (20$), and look around to see that the shortest stack has at least 60$. wait for my BB and I get dealt A-10 spades. blinds are .25/.50 UTG raises to 4.50 and everyone calls. Pot is 36$+ so I decide to gamble cause I can always buy in again. I push for 15.50 more and I get 6 callers, not to mention someone else reraised so the main pot is over 130$ (20$ buyin game) and the side pot is building also. Flop come 1 spade, lots of betting. Turn brings another and lots of betting. River.... another spade!!! side pot alone was over 150 and main was 130-140. About an hour later me and my friend who joined at the same time have all the money and I cash out the easiest 250$ I ever made.

I was playing $10 NL last night when the following happened (sorry for lack of HH but I was drunk):
I have $13.15 and AA in BB. Folds to the button who has $3.56. He raises it to $.40, I reraise to $1, he calls. Flop: A rag rag rainbow. I bet $2.56 he instacalls with bottom pair on the board (T2 I think) and my AA holds up. He rebuys to $3 the decides to chat with me...
Him: "You an idiot."
Me: "ty"
Him: "Why you bet so much? That dumb"
Me: "Because I'm an idiot."
I fold the next hand.
Him: "Ya you are. You supposed to of checked."
I had no idea I was dealing with a pro who must also be an English major
Me: "I only bet when I have the best hand."
Next hand I'm on the button with QQ. Chatty raises to $.40 and I reraise to $1 (deja vu anyone?). He calls. Flop Q J rag. He bets $.10, I put him all-in and he instacalls again, this time with J4. He rebuys again and continues to berate me on my bad betting strategy yet he keeps calling all my bets and I'm running hot. I break him 2 more times for $3 each time. He finally stands up. I steal 5 of the next 8 pots because everyone's afraid to call me. Then I show down with T7o after raising preflop and won with my TP. The table reopened. I made a decent profit last night. If only I hadn't decided to play that $10 SNG...
