Posted Sun May 14, 2006 3:59 pm GMT by Johny
bet 350.

Like Zinno said...fire out a bet. At least half a pot and see where you stand here. If he he flat calls then good.

Well I bet $300, Josh on the button calls.

Pot: $1080

Turn: K Spade

Me?

I have no idea what he'd just flat call the flop with. I check and see what he does.

I don't like this move. If you check chances are villian is going to bet out hard or push even. I say make a continuation bet of about 300. See if he flat calls then. If no scare card comes on the river then I bet again with the same continuation bet of about 300.

300 ain't too bad.

You pot commit yourself by betting 300. Again, what would Villain call the flop with?

If I bet here I move-in.

Not really. That is only 600 chips out of 1800. So that still leaves 1200 to get to the river with. Say you use another 300 on the river. That leaves 900. So your not in the poorest of shape. If a good card comes on the river that gives you the nuts then push.

I don't feel comfortable playing a big pot this way. I don't want to cripple myself in this situation.

One more time, what would Villain call the flop with where we're ahead?

Oh I agree here but you have to try to protect that hand and when/if it becomes the nuts you definately have to push.

Frankly I think I might have been more inclined to push ofter the flop but that's not the way this hand was played so far.

The more I think about it I like pushing the turn. Checking or making a small bet with the size of Hero's chipstack probably isn't the best idea.

Posted Sun May 14, 2006 6:14 pm GMT by zinn0
He could have easily called the flop with 2 overs, or possibly even a higher midpair, i.e. 66, 77...possibly something like A5s. The list can really go on.

*edit. I really hate when posts ahead of me are edited while I'm typing.

I can't even remember what I wrote.

Sorry, sir. Smile

My Stack: ~$1460
Josh's Stack:~$2620
Pot was $1080

( By the way, I think I should have included that Josh is a VERY loose and aggressive player )

I bet $500 ( Not the smartest bet...)
Josh calls.

River is a 5.

Me?

Normally I would say set a trap here if all circumstances are right and check the river. Those circumstances would be a) you know your ahead, b) villian is LAG and you know he will bet the river. Then you could check the river. The only problem is your still not sure if your ahead and your not sure if he will bet.

I say now is push or fold time.

Well, I pushed all in and he folded.

Throughout the hand i acually put him on a 5, going for the straight draw so when the other 5 came out, it was very unlikely he had the other 5. So I am not sure whether I was beat or not. I don't see what else he would have called with however. Could someone give me some constructive criticsm on my play?

What were the suits of the flop? Y

A - 5 has you beat

a higher pair has you beat

A set has you beat

Or the draws

he could have picked up four spades with the kind

he could have 67 (but he didn't - or you'd have lost)

He could have an A and some garbage (this is what I would have said he had till he folded)

I guess he had high connectors or the bill fillmath (king jack NOT suited)
