All-in question

Posted Sun May 14, 2006 10:54 pm GMT by beerw0lf
Hello all - This situation came up and people got upset.

Scenario:

There are 3 people playing. Player 1 folds. Player 2 goes all in (say $100). Player 3 calls but only has 75$. Before the next card was turned the dealer tried to give player 2 back $25 (then wanted to create a $25 side pot). I thought the $25 should have been returned to player 1 after the hand was played and only if player 2 won the pot. Which method is the correct way to handle this?

Thanks in advance!!!

When player 2 goes all in for 100$, and Player 3 calls all in for 75$, Player 1 should automatically get 25$ back. This is not a situation where a sidepot is needed. Welcome to the forum, btw 8) .

Player 2 should take back his 25 before the chips go to the middle.

You should bet between the bot and your stack, then move all the bets into the bot when they are to the satisfaction of the play. When the bets are moved to the middle, everybody should have either folded or have the same amount in front of them.

That is THE MOST correct and clean way to play.

There is no need for a "side pot" here - side pots are for when one person has a claim to only a portion of the pot. Both players will have full claim to the pot.
