Let's say you're getting 10-1 to chase your nut flush, (which is also the nut hi) but there is a low possibility on the board, which you are no part of. This is obviously a large multiway pot considering the generous odds you're getting. My question is:
Do you have to divide your odds in half due to the fact that you are only competing for half the pot? Your 9 outs are only good for 50% of the pot, so therefore should your original 10:1 be reduced to 5:1?

You should only factor in pot odds on the size of the pot that you will realistically win. Let's say you have the nut flush draw, but there are 5 low cards in your suit that could come that give you a flush but put a possible low out there. Effectively, I would consider this drawing to 4 outs, but there is always a chance no one will have a low and you can scoop the whole pot. But when you have a low draw with no high, only count half the pot for your pot odds, and be aware you may even get quartered!

but now I have a more general question. Pot odds in Ohmaha H/L, generally speaking: essensial or unneeded?
I'm in an argument with some people over this. They claim that the flops are so volatile and change so drastically with every card, that it pot odds in general don't usually apply.
I disagree of course, and say that pot odds are essential in all poker games and this shouldn't differ for 08.
Any thoughts? Can anyone expand?

Of course pots odds apply, as they do in any form of poker -- no more, no less.
How pot odds should be applied in your decision-making process will be different in limit, pot limit, no limit and whether tourney or cash game. But they are no less applicable to Omaha H/L than they are to holdem or any other game.

u need pot odds definetly, but u have to play your good draws strong
specially when odds are in your favour
