Hi All Im new to this board.
So after playing Texas Holdem online for about a year and feeling confident I could play in a casino and not look like an idiot my boyfriend and I decided to go to Foxwoods and play.
Mind you we usually spend 200.00 a week at Mohegan Sun playing Let It Ride so we were completely new w.playing at tables.
All in all we had a great time. We broke up our play into two sessions. In the first session we played 2-4 limit at different tables. I did alright w.being up 60.00 at one point. Im one of those people who told everyone it was my first time playing at the tables and they made the mistake of thinking first time playing at tables=no clue about the game. It took me about 20.00 until it literally clicked at what was going on and the importance of playing my game.
After the first session it was run upstairs and get the nicotine fix and eat then back to the tables again. During the second session I completely messed up. First off NEVER and I mean NEVER sit at the same table as your signifigant other, I was off my game because everytime he called I wondered what he had...BIG MISTAKE! One hand he had pocket A's and I had pocket K's. We played for a while w.one guy raising every call (drives me nuts) and I couldnt whisper to my boyfriend to call this guy. Eventually I did something I have never done (and hopefully wont do again) I went Tilt. I got flustered over some dumb mistakes and folded on the turn because of a misunderstanding on my part, I would have won that hand if I hadnt gotten flustered. After that it was all she wrote. I got up told my boyfriend I needed a ciggerette didnt even say anything to the table and stomped away.
Ends up my boyfriend did pretty well. After reviewing how we played and the mistakes we made etc we decided this is something we wanted to do instead of wasting money at Let It Ride. All in all I had a great time and if theres anyone out there who was playing at my table sunday night I appologize for my bad ettiqute.
I will be haunting these boards and this site looking at tips.
Oh and if you play at UB I usually play sit and go tourneys for play money stop and say Hi.

Welcome to the boards for starters 
I think it's good that you are migrating to a more skilful game than Let It Ride. I think that game has like the biggest house edge of all the tables games! That said, it's kinda fun (although it's no 3 card poker  ).
2/4 is a horrible game to play at most places and I think you'd notice a difference playing 3/6. Some people might disagree with this but in my (albeit limited) experience, when the bet is 'over 5 bucks' it tends to make people think twice about being so stupid. Same thing might happen at 8/16 compared to a 5/10 game but I don't know as I tend to play lower down. I think you ought to give 3/6 a run if it is an option next time

Foxwoods 4/8 gets me all hot and bothered. Call way too much when they should fold, fold way too much when they should call. Weak tight nittery and A-crap everywhere. It's a beautiful thing.

Something tells me that we shouldn't be advising a player who's been to the casino 1 time to start moving up in stakes
