In an MTT (freeroll on Party, started w/ 12k players, down to 728).
My stack is down to ~5000, blinds are 1500/3000 w/ a 75 ante. Average stack is ~51k.
What's the strategy here? I presume just play tight until you find something, but there's really no time to find anything (I'm down to 5k in chips right after my BB btw).
Do you want to find the highest card you can in this orbit, find suited connectors, 2 big cards, any pair, what're we looking for? Is it better to get it in w/ 2 smaller cards, since it's less likely you're dominated, then it is to go in w/ Ax or Kx?
Thanks
P.S. In the time it took to type this I almost trippled up, at ~15k now

Well you are likely getting the correct odds to push with any two cards here - but...
My basic strategy here would be to push all-in with any two suited cards, any connected cards, any ace, any king, any queen, and of course any pair.
You don't want to call with many of these hands even with a short stack - but super short stack its technically correct to do so.
That being said, I like being the pusher - not the caller. So if a pot has been raised and you have to crap cards or hands easily dominated, then I'd be more inclined to fold.
This is a crappy spot to be in. I would suggest getting your money all in before this point. 3x BB is worthless. If you double up at this point you still only have 6 BBs - still super short stacked!
Once you get to about 6-10 BBs you need to start pushing A LOT! My opinion is that you want to either double up or lose. The only reason is that here your chips still matter. The big stacks may call you - but most players won't. You get lucky with 10 BBs and all of a sudden you are a average+ stack with a shot.
You will usually have to double up at least 2-3x to even be near there if you wait until you have 3x BB to start moving in.

Yeah, you're really screwed. You have just enough for one trip around the board. You're pretty much pushing it all in with any paint, pair or suited cards like AH said.

THanks for the advice.
I pretty much lost all my chips in 1 hand, then w/ th blinds going up so fast, I got crushed. I was pretty please w/ my finish though (444th out of ~12k). I wouldn't hate finishing 1st one of these times though

If you can get it in with suited connectors or even connectors with a couple of people in the pot already I'd go for it, otherwise find something quick near the button and if it gets folded to you push fast and hope to pick up the blinds.
Other than that, anything reasonable.
