Heads up

Posted Sat May 27, 2006 1:31 am GMT by Ciso_B
Okay, I am playing with $80,000 chips to each to begin with, I have a slight lead and the blinds are $1k/$2k.
I pick up 3 Club 5 Club , in sb, and opt to riase to $5,000. My opponent thinks for a while, and just calls.
Flop falls Q Club 10 Club 4 Diamond . He checks, I decide to bet $5,000 If i recall, and he pops it to $10,000.
Now, i got a baby flush draw heads up, im not gonna fret about him having higher flush draw esp hu, i could riase here , but his hand is obviously strong and i have only 36% chance of improving, im getting odds here right ? So I should just call i think, and i do.

Turn card comes.. 5 Spade . Okay, now he fires out for $10,000.This is where my question comes in, Is the right play in your opinion to call this bet, riase it or pass the hand. with this bet there is now $40,000 in the pot, there is $160,000 in play, and you had around $94,000 when the hand began.
Discuss.....

Also, id be interested in what everyone thinks the villian has.

HU there are alot more going on than only cards, so its hard 'putting' people on anything unless I played it myself. That being said a preflop call and a flop check/raise generally says he got something and that he might want to take it to showdown. But in the right game it can also just mean 'get of my back you laggy...'

Apart from that I think it is a pretty easy turn call w/4 to 1, and if you don't jam the flop I see no reason in jamming the turn on a seemingly 'brick' card either. You'll still have plenty of chips left if you miss, and you may even get a free showdown w/pos (if you want one) and your hand has showdown value HU.

villian probably trying to suck some value out of you.... easy call really. A bet of 20k and I guess you would fold

Yup. Easy call.

Since you pointed out that he thought for a while before calling your PF raise and then proceeded by check-(min-)raising the flop, he probably has either a monster or has decided to make a play.

No point in raising the turn, but it's a clear call.

Guess the hand? Can be a wide range, but if I had to pick one - QQ?

Not guessing the hand.

Easy call, odds with flush draw + pair if he you think he probably just has top pair or perhaps overpair.

Why did you raise pf 5k and then bet 5k on the flop? Looks a little weak to me.
