What do you think about this play

Yesterday I went to the casino, played no limit 1/2, and I did something that I usually don't do...

I was on the button and I was dealt AKos...

There was a raise in early position to $15, everyone before me folded so it is my turn now.. I don't know why, but I put him on AK or AQ so I think at worst I am equal... usually I would just call, but yesterday I said I'll go all in for $53. The blinds folded and he called.... He turns over AQs so I am ahead. Unfortunately Q comes on the flop, and it held up so he won the hand...

As I said, this is something I don't do at all, I would usually call and see the flop, but yesterday I thought I'll go all-in.

What do you think about what I did... Looking back at it, I don't regret doing it as I predicted correctly I wouldn't be behind.. A factor that I didn't think about was that he had a lot of money, about $400 so he was most likely to call...

If someone else called his $15 raise, I wouldn't go all-in, I would just call and see the flop...

cheers

With $53 to start the hand, I push in that spot too. You're going to miss the flop 2/3 of the time making you decisions harder. Nothing wrong with your play.

All this is dependant to you putting him on AK or AQ

Wow, he seems a bit aggro raising that much. I don't tend to call with AK, especially AKo not that it matters too much. The only time i'd call is if i put villan on an AK or AQ, I'd call and then raise his flop bet if the flop is rags or the A or K hits.

You didn't have enough money here though I don't think to do that. with just $50 left I would probably just push here and see the 5 cards. If my stack was a bit deeper then I'd reraise. If it was very deep then see first paragraph.

Pushing is a good move here. At worst you're a slight underdog, and theres a good shot you're dominating him. Especially with only 50$ left this is usually your best move. Calling doesnt seem right to me, because if he does have a pp and you miss the flop, theres almost no way hes folding, considering he'd prolly make a continuation bet into your short stack, and if an A or K does hit, theres a good chance you're not getting any more money out of a JJ or QQ. I say push here every time with a small stack like that, unless you think he has AA KK.
