First time NL cash (max buyin $100)

After getting $60 chipped off me in 4/8 from blinds and pre-flop calls (and missing everything completely) I said what the hell and played in a $100 max buy in no limit table. Played pretty tight and a chip leader preceding me took advantage and raised pre-flop everyhand. Eventually got to just 3 people including me and get 2-5 off in the blind, other player folds he calls I check (big blind). Flop comes 3-4-5 (2 spades) and I fire off $20, he calls and the next card is a J of spades (grrr) he checks I check. River is a 6 of diamonds completing my straight board of 3-4-5-J-6 with 3 spades he checks and I go all in, he calls and slow rolls his K-7off for a straight to 7 to clean me out. GRRRR! Oh well, I think I'm done with this game...

His call on the flop was horrible, but I'm guessing he probably woulda even called an all in. Poor play or just unlucky cards?

What about the poster that bet on a draw to a low straight with a flush draw on the board? And a 2 5 off in the first place? I realize any two will do and all, but it sounds like the two of you were playing some real cowboy poker and it was his day, not yours...

Going all in with the "sucker straight" is a horrible play as well. Especially since he called your 20 on the flop. Sure his gutshot call was bad but your play wasnt much better.

With $2- $3 blinds, you should be playing in Late position with multi limpers with almost any 2..... also you should always call the $1 small blind, if thats all it is . If you don't have the bankroll or don't like big swings , this isn't for you yet.if you are going to play have, Patience pre & after the flops...Position Position Position..... Guts..Instinct If you believe you have the best hand, don't be afraid to get as many chips in as soon as you can while getting paid off...... GOOD LUCK

I think he was losing at the $4/$8 FL table so move to a NL$100 table.
