Okay, on flop im thinking hes got a weak overpair, im on a straight draw open ended so i dont wanna push on flop, cos i think its too likely hes calling me, so i thought i will call try and catch on turn, i wasnt given reasonable odds on flop, 3-1 ish i think, but i was hopin either i hit my hand OR a club falls in which case he would pass 9s etc right?

Do you think the push on turn is bad or ok move, i will post results after some feedback.

Its not a bad spot, if you can get something like 88 to fold. If he's got a set though....he's probably calling.

I wouldn't put you on a flush on the turn, the overbet in that spot usually doesn't mean a flush.

I'd put you on two possibilities here,

1) something like a flopped two pair or maybe a set you're trying to protect

2) a semi-bluff with a probably big draw

That being said, I'm more than likely only calling you with a set. I might call with AcAx or AcKx if I thought there was a good possibility you were making a move, but even then I'm not sure.

I like the way you played the hand, I think he had 88-99. I have a question though, if the turn is 2h, what do you do? I would be afraid of AcQc though, it also seems like a good possibility. So I say AcQc or 88-99.

I like it but your screwed if he doesn't buy it...lol. I think it almost screams flush. At least to me it does. If he doesn't beleive you then I would be willing to put him on several hands including AA-99.

I think anything better than a pair of kings would (usually) try and checkraise the turn after hero has called the flop and it would be weird if hero called the flop with overs looking for a K. So IMHO the bet doesn't make sense.

So yeah, I think this is a pretty bad bluff, but I guess it may work against some opponents.

Hmmm...not sure I agree with the others. I hate the turn card because it is one that could have improved a raiser's hand. If he has AK with the Ac, he probably comes since such a large overbet generally does not mean a flush. And, since he only bet about 1/2 the pot on the flop, that easily could be a continuation bet from him with AK.

I don't know...I guess I would make this play if you thought he would lay down AA or AK or any other overpair to the flop. But, you are drawing pretty thin if he calls and maybe dead (if he has a flush himself).

I think I would have played wuss poker on the turn and check/folded. You never know...if he had QQ, you might have even gotten a free look at the river too.

I think it would have been a better bluff if you would have check-raised the turn because like Johny said, this represents the made flush more than a massive overbet.

Oh well, if he calls, you still have a few outs to send him on the brink of suicide (assuming HE doesn't have the made flush).

Fairly high risk... if the turn comes a brick then what do u do?... hopefully u will check fold. its not beyond him to have AcKc or AcQc AcJc..... he has roughly same stack as you....... Should he call (with flush or trips or even overpair) you you are fecked. Very strong play though, he has to fold quite a few hands here, tough to say whether its a good bluff or not without observing the player for a while. But based on what u have said, I would say bad bluff, not because of the move - i like the play (u made a read and played accordingly).... but purely because there is a reasonable chance he will call and if he does so its nearly all your chips, pretty unneccesary risk to take.

What do you think his raising requirements are pf? Especially a shit raise like that?

Is there any chance he will bet out a flush draw? Seen the type to do so?

I quite like the move, you are representing a flush or a king. If he has not got them beat he is going to find it hard calling here uness he can pick your bluffs off well.

I think this overbet can mean a flush, and you have put him to the challenge.

If I had him on overs then I would raise the flop.

He min riased pre flop, and I didnt thnk he'd do that with a hand like AK, AQ etc , thats why the king didnt worry me.
My thoughts were these - 1- Either he has slight overpair hence a nice bet on the flop, he could just as easily have AA i guess, but he might raise more pre flop imo.
2- He had position on all of us but one pre flop caller, with us all in, i felt hed check with a club draw, cos theres only one other person behind him.
3- Id seen him pass fairly strong hands before when put under pressure.

My first thoughts werent just to call and bluff him out, hopefully i can hit my straight and get paid off from an overpair right? I mean hes not gonna think im holdin some trash like 46 for a straight , but then the club came, i COULD have check riased the turn but if he comes out bets the turn and i re riase, he might well feel committed to a hand that he might not call if i just push. Or alternatively he checks the turn behind me, and if i bet the river hes prolly gonna pay me off anyway.
Also, say he has AcK or AA , even when he makes the call, i can still hit my straight cant i, providing he doesnt have the flush i will outdraw 16% of the time (lol). Not much i know, but im not drawing dead at least Smile

so what actually happened?

Posted Fri Jun 02, 2006 3:13 pm GMT by Ciso_B
He thought for a little bit , and called with a set. That was the only hand i didnt really give enough thought of. 55 he held.

The suspense was killing me (Ok, so it was the boredom at work), so I looked up the Tourney results. I noticed that raiseu8888 finished 4th in that tourney, so I guessed that he called with a hand that had Ciso beat.

By the way, are these 55k tournies rebuys?

Tough break there Ciso. I call there with a set too.

he must have been a fairly good player then even if i set him on his way, i was playing a bit more crazy last nite, and $98,000 in chips at the stage of the hand was very nice.
