I'm interested in finding a local home game, but I have no idea how to find poker players in my area (Rockville MD/Washington DC). Can anyone recommend a good site that lists reputable home games?
Thanks!
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

md-poker.com -> forum for local md games. I played in a few; some are really easy and some have somewhat good competition so you have a great variety to choose from.

homepokegames.com has listings for games in just about every State. Everything from nice cardrooms to 1 table in someone's house.

In fact, here:

DC specific games.
Do forum rules allow me to post that? If not, my bad.

I have tried them and was told "not unless some one here can vouch for you." They are understably wary of cops/robbers coming to their homes and busting/robbing them.

Yeah, but it shouldn't be that tough to get someone to vouch for you...

When I was new in town i went to a place where you needed someone to vouch for you, what they did was an application process to verify who you are, then i was good to go.

For those of you in the DC/Baltimore area (I didn't realise there was this many) I can set up a game at my house. nothing high stakes maybe .50/1.00. I live on Ft Meade. PM me if your interested it would be fun to do a cash game or SnG type game with some THPers. I woulsd still have to run it by the wife. She lets my friends over for poker but not sure how she would feel about strangers.

Just bring up poker once in a while. Almost everyone either plays or knows someone who plays, it shouldn't be that hard to get inviited to a game.

That was going to be my suggestion. Most of the people in my regular poker group came from a friend of a friend who knew about a game. We didn't know anyone the first time we went, but had the friend vouch for us. We gave out our email address to a few there, were invited back a few more times and were invited to a few games that other players from that game were hosting. Now, it's not that difficult to find a game.
