On Friday night I was at Harrah's East Chicago, IN with a few friends to rake in a few pots. A friend, of a friend, who works in Marketing at Harrah's met with us and BS'd for a while. If you don't already know, the poker room at Harrah's was at a temporary local for the past few weeks- but now the room is back to normal (still with a little dust around it). The Marketing guy said that the property is going through a 30 million dollar renovation and the poker room will be completed first- he mentioned plasma screens, bar, poker room cage, more tables, tournaments, etc.
But, if you've been there lately that may be old news to you. What I found interesting is that according to the Marketing guy, the casino to really watch in the upcoming couple years is the Hammond Horseshoe! I have always felt that the Horseshoe (previously the Empress) was and still is a dump! They used to offer poker years ago and got rid of it. Anyway, the real investment for Harrah's is going to be the Horseshoe (which they will be owning outright in the upcoming months). He mentioned something like an 70 million dollar overhaul that will make the Horseshoe the premiere casino in the Midwest!!! All the big wigs are excited, since Harrah's will be the largest owner of the biggest casinos in the Midwest region (Tunica, Shreveport, IN, IL, MI, etc).
Oh, and yeah, he mentioned the Hammond Horseshoe will be offering a 30-table poker room to rival them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting news on the Horseshoe, thanks.
BTW, how did you do over the weekend? I played Saturday and Sunday at Harrah's and had the absolutely worst, most expensive poker experience in my life. This was a weekend when less than 35% of my boats and flushes held up. 6 figure losses. I'm still reeling.
edit: just re-read this. I meant 4-figure losses. Hell I ever looe over 100 grand I'll just dive into the lake from the top floor and drown myself.
