How many chips should me and my friends start out with?
We do $5 buy in. And usually get $5 is chips. With 10/20c blinds.
I think I read somewere you start out with a certain amount of big blinds. Is that right?
How many big blinds do we get?

100 big blinds is pretty standard, and makes for a more interesting game.

So, a pretty 'standard' game for our 10/20 blinds, we would start out with $20 in chips.
Yeah, our games take about 2hrs with $5 in chips, I don't think anyone would like to play with that many xP

Two hours? Are you guys playing limit?

Well, if you are playing a tournament type of game where the winner(s) take the buy-ins, the norm is to slowly increase (double them) the blinds every half hour or so.
If you are playing a cash game then just play and take whatever money you have left when the session ends and cash it in, the goal isn't to clean house.
Ofcourse, you can play with whatever structure you want. If you want to play with 2 big blinds, it is in your right to do so. But 100 big blinds is the standard, which is what you asked for.

We're playing no-limit. But they don't like to raise the blinds until it gets down to around 3 people.

Is this a tourney or a cash game? You're structure is pretty strange. Could you talk them into doing a more normal structure? Maybe something like
1000-1500 starting chips
25/50
50/100
75/150
100/200
You could have the blinds go up every 30 minutes or something.
If it's a cash game I'd say you're probably fine with 50-200x the big blind.
