Nightmare flops...

You hold KK and raise.
You get one caller in LP.

What is the worst (as in most difficult to play) possible flop you can expect..

Personnally I think it is:

A98, two suited.

Because it happened to me I didn't have a clue what to do next.

Continuation bet your hand like you normally do, the ace is after all...your most likely holding. Unless you have reads that tell you this guy is laggy/tilted or a horrible calling station you can probably safely get away from the hand if he calls/raises you.

That's just how NL works, sometimes the cards kill you even if there is a chance you have the best hand, especially when you are out of position.

I did.
:D
He called.
Shocked

My next action was either to check, or to commit.

p.s. Anyone fancy Argentina for the World Cup ? At 10-1, that's good pot odds.

I'm not sure I'm ready to commit everything here no matter what falls on the turn, unless of course, it's another K.

It's difficult, you can only commit if you put him on the drawing hand more times than an Ace.

Argentina are not going to win the WC. They were really poor in qualifiying and have underperformed in every major championship for years and broken down. I have a feeling this will be one of their worst WC's.

I think you want to be looking more at the european nations to win this. If I went for any I'd go France, but come on ENGERRRRLAND!!

You should definitely continuation bet on the flop. When you are called, you need to shut it down unless you strongly read that your opponent is drawing OR that he was just calling on the flop to see if you had an ace and will fold middle or bottom pair to a turn bet. I might fire 1/3 of the pot again on the turn if a blank comes. This serves as a blocking bet and then you can check it down on the river since unless he has top pair beaten, he won't fire at you on the river since you shot twice.

Against some players though, you simply have to check/fold the turn with Kings here. The chances are just too great that you are beaten.

As an aside, I think there is a worse flop for KK. A89 all of one suit that you don't have is worse.

AAK when he has AK is a lot worse

as the preflop raiser, yer expected to have an ace....you gotta fire at the ace regardless...if he raises, you can walk away...chances are that they'll fold tho....when they call, it gets complicated....you gotta hope he has a smaller pp...if you think you can bluff him off the pot, the turn continuation bet is good, but a lot of times i find myself checking it down hoping he has queens or jacks or something....keep close attention to the rest of the board also...if the flop is a rainbow Ace, rag, rag, and he called, he could very easily be slow playing his big ace....but if the flop is like A89 two suited, and he just calls, there is a much better chance he is on a draw, and a blank turn could pave the way to a good bluff on your part...you figure w/ a dangerous board, if he had an ace, he would want to protect it by raising...

it also depends on the level of play and your position.
At low level players consider any Ax a strong hand. Kicker rarely comes into their mind. How ever if you got position and he checked to you, you can assume he doesn't have the A but he's on a draw.

Worse flop for KK is AKK when someone has AA. It happened to me once in a SNG. Luckily I had the AA and it was heads up. He pushed...I called and the rest is history... Laughing
