They call because they care. I mean, they call because they have a player note that shows that you never win. I would've actually pushed against you with 98o preflop that hand, for that very reason, and subsequently put about twice as bad a beat on you... I would've made two pair though, not a straight, because that's how I roll.
The coolest part about the 98o hand is that his postflop call is possibly correct, though he really should donk-pushed the flop instead.
