Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

If you're going to play a hand from EP in NL, two criteria are kinda cool:
Either:
1.) KNOW that you are probably behind any callers and will have to improve. (requires somewhat deep stacks)
2.) KNOW that you are probably ahead of any callers (big cards vs PPs is obviously a special case, but big cards will be easier to play after the flop than a low PP).
(Doesn't require deep stacks)
Hands like Kx and Ax are usually hands that often leave you somewhere in between, the worst place to be in NL.

Normally easy laydowns, even if it's Axs. Many people always limp with these hands hoping to hit flushs on flop but the chances are ~1%. Even hitting 4-flush on the flop is only like ~12% or so. Throwing these small aces away in EP should normally be rutine but there are a few exceptions:
1) Deep stacks. Over 100BB is nice, and gives room to play the cards to their full extent, in hopes of stacking opponents
2) Shorthanded game. with 6 or less players, a raise is usually correct.
3) Shortstacked. You have 10-15BB, push with any ace.
