And man its a GREAT game, i love being able to see 40% of the flops and not having it be a terrble move. I still havent come anywhere near close to understanding all there is to it but so far i'm loving it. A2 + pp + 2suited seems like its the best hand to get so far. Anyone like to comment on what their favorite starting hands are?

Actually, 40% of hands is WAY too many to be playing. That's a major leak in your game, and most often it IS incorrect to call with marginal hands before the flop. Omaha 8 is a game that is won primarily through good hand selection and technical skills.
In any high/low game, your goal should be to SCOOP the whole pot, not play for half. Therefore, you should primarily restrict your hand selection to good high hands that have a chance for low. The reason A234 (with a suited ace) is a great hand is not because it can make a lot of nut lows, but because it can make many straights and the nut flush and THEN also make a low. High is always better because there is always a high hand (whereas you need to qualify for low), and there is less chance of being quartered for high.
The best starting hand in Omaha-8 is AA23 double suited, because it can make two nut flushes, top set, the wheel, and most nut lows.
A2 is almost always a playable combination in loose games simply because it will make the nut low such a high percentage of the time. A2s is almost always playable for it's low and nut flush potentials, but I would not advise calling with a naked A2 from EP if you have nothing else going for it.
Position in Omaha 8 is VERY important for maximizing wins and minimizing losses, so try not to play many hands in the early seats.
Hands I would look for include:
Most hands that contain A2, especially A2s
Most hands that include AA with a suited Ace and a wheel card.
Most hands that include an A3 with another wheel card or a suited ace.
Most hands with a low suited Ace and decent pair (TT or above).
Hands I would stay away from:
Middle straight cards, like 5678, because they rarely scoop and often lose high to better straight.
High pairs with no possibility for low.
Low hands that do not include an Ace (this is primarily because the Ace gives a chance for aces up, not just because the ace is usually needed for a nut low).
Suited cards that do not include an Ace.

that looks like solid advice, i'll try sticking to it until i become more familiar with the game.
