Major GOALS That You've Achieved

Posted Thu Jun 15, 2006 6:58 am GMT by supafrey
This is the standard bragging post mixed with a little question for you guys to share.

On Feb. 21st I bought into a site for $200, hearing much praise from a Gumbie on IRC. A small rakeback deal convinced me, and I've been playing there ever since. I quickly had a little hot run and sometime in April I made a goal for myself : $10,000 on the site.

Well, almost immediately after making my goal I went on a little nosedive. Nothing huge, but losing more than a grand convinced me to take a couple weeks off from playing. I redeposited for $600 on the 27th of April and have been grinding at my goal ever since.

Well, I finally hit it today... A couple nicely played hands and I'm now sitting at over $10,100 on the site.

It's the first time I've ever put down a real goal for myself, and although it took my longer than I hoped I was quite happy i made it happen. 1 week shy of 4 months and I pull $10k off of this site. Not bad by my standards (and not including small wins on a couple other sites for when i get bored...)

your turn.

My acheived goals are few. I made enough playing poker to pay for my wifes new PC and to cash out a couple times ($100 per time).

My future goals are:

1) Play in a WSOP event (prefer ME)(This wont happen this year it appears).
2) Build my bank-roll playing micros and move on up to higher stakes. (This one is for sure getting there.)
3) Start a second bank-roll just for SNGs and MTTs.
4) Stop flirting so much.
5) Make more friends.
6) Visit Canada
7) Visit the UK
8) Visit Vegas again.
9) Visit AC and meet Sean.
10) Put together an all Iowa poker tournament.
11) Stop working so much and make more time for poker.

Achevied twice.

Goals:

Win another freakin MTT.

Last summer I won about 10 1000 player plus tournys. Since then... about 8 final tables and nothing better than a 4 place finish.

30" walleye is like a Canadian dollar. That is only worth about 27-28" here.

I thought I had one last week. It ended up being a 10-15lb Spiny Softshell Turtle. Man, those things are good swimmers! They also dont like hooks in their shells.

Somewhere along the way I became an ok player, plenty for me. I have no 'poker goals', cards are fickle and I think it is better to play one's best and see what happens instead.

Posted Mon Jun 19, 2006 11:19 am GMT by tutubird
My goal was to start out with $30 and turn it into half a grand. It took me about a month and a half to do it but I got there. It just feels like a accomplishment to me, that I have achieved something. ( Even though it wasen't that big of a goal ). My new goal is to hit a grand.

Posted Mon Jun 19, 2006 5:32 pm GMT by xDiamond_CutteRx
The biggest goal I've achieved so far is crawling out of a huge hole I was in since the end of last year. I was down to the felt, and from there I've increased my BR to $5000. But my biggest goal has always been to improve my play, and I think I'm doing just that.

Posted Tue Jun 20, 2006 3:16 pm GMT by Moon_Child
just playing poker and not lose... thats all, its hard to set goals when i have the worse luck ever, ive been there done that...

im going to keep playing and hope not to get suck out and maybe make some spending money

and i do keep track of all my transactions... this year i am up like almost 200 dollars i think from all the ups and downs which is pretty shitty when im playing nl50 nl100

It's a little weekly game with 15 to 20 players. That's why I put big in quotes Laughing About ten of the guys are regulars and have a league they play so there is some thinking poker going on. About 5 of the players are just there to have a few beers. I don't really like the structure but it works, 600 starting chips and blinds @ 5/10 doubling every 30 minutes. Last night it was 17 players with the payout being 200/100/40.

Memorable hands, I had pocket Aces and I raise from the late position. The button re-raises, so I'm thinking he had a big pair too. Flop comes K, x, x and I could tell he really like the king. I bet out about a third of the pot and he quickly goes all-in. I think for a bit and ask him if he has a set of kings. He makes a quit "oh shit" look and I called. He turned over KQ and I double fairly early.

Made a decent laydown with pocket tens from the button to a raise and a min reraise, after the hand some of the table was talking about how they couldn't believe I laid it down. That helped me later when i bluffed when I turned a club draw from the button with 9T and made the ace high draw fold.

I only had to win a few races and I can't remember one that I was behind on, but had some well timed plays and caught some decent cards. I can't wait to play again.

Thread necrophilia!!!

Just hit 20k from Celeb! =)

I'm pretty happy on there, especially because I've still been making a steady profit (nowhere near as much though) off of other sites and playing in the casino a bit. My BR isn't quite this high, though, because I've been paying for my entire summer/eurotrip/university/intoxicants, but I'm still pretty happy.

EDIT: No more bragging until I hit 50k, I promise Rolling Eyes

Posted Tue Oct 24, 2006 10:42 am GMT by MrDarling
So you average 10K every 4 month. Not that bad for a kid who just turned 21 Smile

Hi , why don't you use your old account login?

As for my goals, well, I've written them in another thread.
1. Clear my bonus without busting my BR (10 days into the job and I'm sort of accomplishing it)
2. Double my BR by the time I clear my bonus. 50 more days to go and still a full BR to gain. (donkt a few losses that made me need to grind back to square 1)
3. Win a MTT.
4. Learning to say no to all those girls who keep chasing me

Posted Tue Oct 24, 2006 10:54 am GMT by supafrey
I turned 20, actually. ^_^

This is all just from one site, though... I have made some money on a few other sites as well....

Did you mean Rochambeaux? Yours was so bad it doesn't even qualify as a phonetic spelling.

And it's Frist. No wonder no one pays attention to your complaints to Congress...your calls are routed to homeless people on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Nope Sean I didn't. Rochambeaux is rick, paper, scissors while rollin sambo is a game mentioned on South Park. It is were to people kick each other in the groin. Winner is the first one not to pass out or quit.... Laughing.

As for Frisk...that was a typo for Frist. Either way he is a jackoff and deserves to be put in Ethiopia with a bucket of chicken strapped onto his back.

Not definitive of course, but it's one of the first references I found through Google

I'll look for corroboration. There may be a South Park script floating around for the Mecha-Streisand episode somewhere.

The point being it's spelled the same way. I did a Google search for "Rollin Sambo" and found nothing.

Actually Sean, I do stand corrected. But in South Park it is spelled
"roshambo". Finally I went and did a Wiki on it and came up with this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rochambeaux

So I do stand corrected. But when I heard it on SP it sounded like he said rollin sambo. Could be the fact I have a 20% hearing loss in both ears too.... Laughing

Probably had the best tournament payout ever a few days ago. My bankroll was around $10 (accumulated from freerolls), and managed to boost it to $69 by playing in a $1 MTT. I finished 5th out of 1313 and cashed $59.09. Yeah, I shouldn't be playing in $1 MTT's with a $10 bankroll, but w/e, it worked out for me.

Done :

1) when I started poker in novembre 2003 at micro limits it was clear that I wanted to do this for a living.
in march 2004 I was half-time pro.
in june 2005 I was full-time pro.

2) going to vegas

3) when I signed up to belgian championship last year I had real high expectation and my goal was of course (duh) to win the whole thing. This is the biggest satisfaction in my life I think.

To do :

1) play in one of the WSOP

2) keep my title next week at the 2nd edition of the belgian championship...that is the toughest of all :)

3) make supa admit that he's a luckbox.
