Hey guys, I havent really played 7 card stud before but I was looking to get into it a bit. What are some basic things I should keep in mind, and whats generally a winner at showdown? The games pretty interesting, but I'm pretty sure I'm calling too much, yet I've only won one hand so far, (out of like 40) and lost 30$.

Thanks guys, its kind of amazing how much money you make just by tightening up your starting hand requirements. I've tried to stick to those guidelines and just use my gut the rest of the way and so far I'm up about 120 just from the .5/1 tables. And I still haven't come close to fine tuning my game. <3 stud.

I think you'll find that as you advance in limits, you'll find that a ton of 1/2, most 2/4, and even some 3/6 and 5/10 tables are chock full of people who have no idea what the hell they're doing.
There are also some sharks that are quite good, but they're pretty easy to pick out. Then you can just avoid them.

agreed ... anybody who you see sitting tight like you ... take note of it and mark them as such, no reason to get into dumb "fights" with them, theres enough fish for everybody
where are you playing at jefe and ham?

Bouncing around, doing a little whoring, at AP right now, but they have freakish 7 max stud tables for some reason, which are rarely full, so mostly multitabling holdem. I'll probably swing by Paradise and Pacific in the near future, so I'll be around there, probably under HurricaneHam.
