2 really bad beats in 2 games!

Posted Tue Mar 30, 2004 3:49 pm GMT by Always_Bored
Both these beats knocked me out of a winner takes all tournament.

1. Its just me and another guy left for a 200$ winner takes all pot. I am big blind and I get delt a Jack - Ace offsuit. He calls and I check. Flop Jack - Jack - 6. The other guy raises. I triple his raise. He Calls. Next card Queen. I go all in. He calls. He flops his cards. He has Queen something i dont remember and isnt important. Guess what comes on the river. another queen!!!! I have a full house jacks over queens and he has queens over jacks. The worst par tis that he should have folded when i re-raised his bluff. I hate bad players who get lucky in the end.

2. The following week im playing with the same guys. Now its 3 people left and i have Ace - 2 Suited. The guy to my left raises. Normally i wouldnt call a raise on that but i was sure the guy who raised had nothing. He bluffs a lot. So i call his raise. The other guy folded. The flop comes down. Ace - something else - 2. I have two pair aces and 2's. I call all in to either scare him off or have him think i have absolutely nothing and call. He thinks for a while and calls. He has pocket 6's. The turn comes and its another 2. Now I have a full house 2's over aces. Im getting ready to start counting my chips when the river card comes and its another freaking 6!!! I couldnt believe it!! he got a full house 6's over 2's.

Different dealer and different player both times. Im fairly certain my friends dont know how to cheat and wouldnt if they could.

Those were pretty rough man. All I can say is there's no need to dwell on them. Things like that happen but you just never want to see it happen to you. Shocked When you get someone else the same way you'll remember those two hands.

I have had the same problem playing against some novice players. On the one hand, they bring more money onto the game while they also seem to never fail to out draw me.

i am not dwelling on them. I would play them the same way next time. I know it was just dump luck and most of the time i will beat the novice players.

Dude called an allin with an ace onboard with pocket 6's? Really? Can I have his phone number?

Ya I know. And he is the best player I play with. The other guys are much much worse. Thats what makes me so mad. I cant believe i lost to a sub par player.

Also. My incredible streak of bad luck continues. I had trip 10's - K high (one in hand, 2 on the flop) Some minor betting and i called and raised a bit. The pot is average. There is no flush or straight possibilities and the only 2 pair on the board is 10's. So after the river I go all in figuring they will all fold or hope their 2 pair hold up. One guy calls. He has trip 10's Ace high. Unbelievable. I think until this bad luck streak goes away im going to refrain from calling all in and just bet big so i dont lose everything when they outdraw me. At least this was a lower buy in game so i only lost 10 bucks.

Your last "bad luck" play has nothing to do with bad luck. You had K 10, he had A 10, that's not a bad beat!!! He simply got better cards than you, and played them right. Seriously, you're calling these guys novices, yet you don't realize that getting beat with trips 10's K kicker by trip 10's A kicker is far from a bad beat???
