Hand is almost complete - final river bets have been made and called, player X turns her cards over to reveal pocket aces, player Z throws his cards at the dealer, then says wait - the cards dont hit the muck or the board cards - and the dealer hands them back - Player Z for some reason didnt notice he had a flush. I say the cards where mucked - anyone anyone -

you answered your own question. not mucked.

Although if this was a home game it's something that could be clarrified before the next game starts.

Hmmm. See, now I would rule this as a muck. The intent was certainly there to muck the cards and they missed the muck and hit the dealer instead. Saying it was not a dead hand would mean that if the dealer were not sitting where they were and the cards went off the table and hit the floor, they would still be live as well. I don't know of any card room manager who would make that decision.

I say mucked...

That isnt the point, the dealer was there. Also, he didnt say that they made it to the dealer only were mucked toward him.

At the casinos I have played at (many), everytime it is undeniable that those two cards belong to that person and they have not touched the muck OR anyone else's hand, that hand is live.

Absolutely not. There are specific rules about cards leaving the table which are independent of this question.

Where did you get that the dealer was the only impediment anyway? I didn't take "throws his cards at the dealer" literally.

Anyway, not mucked.

Ummm, I got "throws his cards at the dealer" from the post directly. Pardon me for taking it literally.

I play at Foxwoods and I have seen the floor rule more than once on intent to muck. So, I guess my experience is different.

some casinos even if the cards did hit the muck, and then the player thinks he folded the winning hand, and the dealer and player can determine the 2 cards that were his, ive seen floor people call the hands live still. So not always are cards dead that hit the muck.. always ask for rulings at a casino

im still confused as to how you can "throw" your cards at the dealer and not have them go in the muck

Maybe a Boston Hurler, but definately has a chance to start for the Cubs.

It's all house rules, Guys. 12 months ago that's a muck in my local casino, now it's not (change in management).

he threw his cards to the muck, but it didnt get mucked and the dealer gave it back to him so its not folded.
but if the guy made a verbal comment, like "muck my hand or fold or whatever" then cards are dead.
