No real read on villain. vp$ip ~20% over 70 hands. I apologize in advance if this is boring or standard or just not interesting enough.
Should this board slow me down at all? I couldn't figure out why the 8 woke him up on the river. Especially with the preflop action.

Check/call river
Posted Wed Jun 21, 2006 11:18 pm GMT by xDiamond_CutteRx
Only hand I can see him having that beats you is QQ (maybe JJ, depending on player). Still, I'd just call the river. People in 2/4 I guess are CAPABLE of doing this with JJ, 88, or AQ.
I think it's fine to bet the river, but that depends on the player.

Bet/call the river. Looks good.

I really don't see him having a queen here. Why no raise on the flop or turn? If hes gonna cap with AQ I can't see him slow rolling until the river to decide to raise. The only rational thing I can come up with is that he put you on AK and you missed so hes raising on the river with a pocket pair of some kind. I dont think he has jacks though, again, because he would of raised the turn, but maybe 8's or kings or 10's. I'd say reraise him though, I'm thinking your winning and will get called the majority of the time, which should more than make up for the extra bet you lose if he caps and has 88 or AQ.
Having the board pair on the flop and no raise on the turn is my key tell that you're probably only gonna lose to an 88.

Smells like AQ or some Q to me. Many players wait until the river to raise with trips, so it wouldnt surpirse me at all.
No way the 8 would scare me, but I would have check/called the river after he called both flop/turn bets.

in this level I wouldn't be surprised if he has 9c 10c ...
some player seems to think suited connectors are the bomb

Very true, but 99.9% of these players will call the 3-bet... not cap.
Hands looks like its played fine.

I smell JT. This guy figures you for a high pocket pair and wants to bluff you off only to back into a straight.
