Well, since half of you didn't know what Shreveport was when I posted that I was going, I had to figure it out for myself . I started to post this as a reply in my other thread, but it got so long that I decided it needed it's own thread. Here ya go:
Just got back yesterday. Had a great trip.
We (me and my buddy) stayed at the El Dorado. I would recommend it if any of you ever go. Rooms were pretty nice, people were friendly, and it's 1 of like 2 casinos there that have a poker room. The poker room is freezing cold during the day for some reason, so bring a jacket or something. Temp is fine at night. Other than that, it seems to be a well run poker room. About 12 or so tables. They run frequent tournaments. Dealers all seemed knowledgeable and friendly. They kept the games going at a good pace. Games offered were $1/2 NL, $2/5 NL, $4/8 FL, and I think they started a PLO game one of the nights, but I don't remember the stakes.
Anyway, played Friday night when we got there. Nothing eventful really happened. I was playing pretty straightforward poker and just getting a feel for everything. We played for about 4 hours and after going up $40, down $40, up $20, down $30, and so on, I think I cashed out at $6 up . Play quality wasn't really great and I felt really comfortable despite it being my first Casino poker experience. I don't think I saw a hand with less than 4 people to the flop, pretty loose players. I recognized that if you're bluffing, you better bluff big and for the most part just play solid and value bet your good hands. Wish I'd gotten more good hands.
Saturday was a lot of fun. After hitting up the lunch buffet we went back to the poker room. I played for another 3 or 4 hours and got a couple of interesting hands. (This is $1/2 NL btw)
#1:
I get dealt T 2 in the small blind. At least 5 limpers so I toss in the extra $1 to complete. BB checks. Flop comes down 7 8 9 . I check it and it gets checked all the way around (kinda suprised that it got all the way around without someone betting. This was pretty rare.) Next card is the money card, J . I check it, hoping someone made a flush, but to my suprise it gets checked around again. Ugh. River comes off 8 (I knew this card sucked for me because now someone with the flush has to be concerned about the paired board if they bet out and I raise) and I toss ten bucks out there (Pot was only about $10 at the time). I get 2 callers in middle position and then the guy in the CO raises it up $30 more (yay!). At this point I have a decision and I think I did the right thing. I could call here and hope that the 2 in MP call as well or raise, or I could go ahead and pop it up, making MPs surely fold, but with the hopes of CO coming back over the top. CO guy is obviously representing at least a big flush (I was praying he'd filled up a boat when the board paired). I made it $60, MPs fold, CO thinks about it for a while and just calls. He flipped over the nut flush and I turned over my straight flush to take the pot.
I'll remember that hand for a while . That was my 2nd straight flush ever and my first one live. It felt great. That really sucks that the board paired though or I might have stacked him (the 7 8 9 J of had to be a little scary though).
The second hand of note was one I'll remember next time I get my money in with the best hand and someone hits a 2 outer on me because they made a huge mistake by calling .
#2:
Early position (UTG or UTG+1), look down at AA. I make it $10 to go and get a couple of callers, one of which was the guy I hit my straight flush on. I think he was on the BB or something this hand. Anyway, the flop comes down all rags with two s. He bets out $25 (I thought this was an odd bet) and I made it $50. Folds to the BB (original bettor) who pushes for $72 more. Now at this point, if I would have thought about it for any length of time, I would have probably come to the conclusion that he had called my PFR with a pocket pair, had hit a set, and was afraid of the hearts so had come out betting big with it. However, I didn't think about it at all for some reason and I instacalled. Total mistake, my brain must have been out to lunch or something. My buddy even gave me a look of concern when I called and mouthed "You got a set?". My heart sank a little. Sure enough, he flips up pocket 3s for a made set and I flip up my pocket Aces. Turn comes down the most beautiful A I've ever seen. The river didn't give him his case 3. I felt a little like a tool raking in that big pot, but what can ya do? That feeling went away pretty quickly.
At this point I had about $427 in front of me, which is more than I've ever had in front of me at a poker table and I honestly started getting nervous. I was also still a little shaken up by the profitable suck-out I had just delivered. My mind wasn't in the right place to continue so I walked a nice (almost) full rack up to the cage. Fun day 8).
Played again on Saturday night, was really tired, wasn't getting any cards, couldn't stop yawning, decided to get cute and took a stab at a scary board (more out of boredom than anything else). Lost about $40 on that move and about another $50 just from getting into pots and having to fold when I didn't improve. Took my remaining $100 in chips to the cage and cashed out so I wouldn't donk the rest off.
Anyway, Sunday I decided not to play any more cards and just watched my buddy play some after we'd checked out. Two hours later we headed home.
Total winnings were:
Poker = $133
Tiger Woods '05 for $ .50 a hole with buddy = $14
Had a great trip and it was all payed for with my winnings 8).
*edit* - I had dashes instead of equal signs next to my winnings. It made it look negative so I changed it

Nice report, Tx. That's a great mindset to remember your suckout the next time one happens to you, a lot of poker players only remember the bad beats. That kind of level headed thinking will benefit you greatly in the long run.
