How many players are at the table is helpful. For example, I wonder why you raise with 55 after a limper, you don't give your position and how many players are at the table, so can't give my opnions.
hand 2: Again, it helps to know how many are at the table The turn was a relative good card for you. so why check if you are going to call.
I would fire a second barrel if that usually gets him off the hand and give up to any resistance. You don't have a monster so keep the pot small.

Hand 1:
I like the continuation bet, it disquises your hand somewhat. I
play a lot of 50nl and when Villain makes a weak bet like that on the turn he's weak. They use it as a blocking bet, but they don't realise how weak it is.
He probably had flush draw or a medium pp (77-99), so your raise pretty much forces those hands to fold. He can't beat an ace or QQ now.
I may just call behind hope he either bets the river or calls a value bet. I would have raised the turn to around $6. With two aces on the board players usually really slow down to any resistance.
Hand 2:
Bet the turn again and if he comes over the top then lay it down.
If he just calls again, your action depends on the river. With the way you played it, I check the river. I may call a bet on the river, but I'm not sure.
