Do you bet this river, and more importantly, why?

Im not a very experienced short handed player. But I think that you should just check behind. Think of it this way... If you bet and he calls, you are more than likely beat (hes not going to call with anything you can beat). Also, if you just check behind and you have the best hand and win the pot anyway, and if you don't have the best hand, you didn't lose any extra money. Just my thoughts.... not sure if that makes sense or not though Laughing

The hands that you beat here are:
35, 57 and hands like 45, etc.

If he has an ace he's going to check raise you, but thats very unlikely since he didnt c/r the turn.

You aren't getting a call from a hand you beat (most likely) and any hand that beats you will call, so I'd check behind unless you're trying to get an aggressive image.

I checked behind, he showed 3Diamond 5Diamond and my sixes were good.

I kinda had that image already, which is the real problem with looking at these things in vaccuum. I agree a better hand isn't folding here, with perhaps the exception of 77-99.

I would probably have bet on the river.
heres why:
If he had the ace he would have raised you on the turn most likely and not check to you on the river.
If he had the ten, he might have been trying to get a check raise in but it isnt usually worth it to do that on the river.
It seemd much more likely that he would have been on a flush draw or straight draw and tried to show it down.
Also, keep in mind that he could have had 2 big cards like JQ or KQ for a gutshot and hoped that you had something like 89.
so i think it would have been safe to bet the river.
