Hey everyone, I just joined this site after some exploring and it looks like a really helpful, nice community we have here. Anyway, I am about to go into my real tournament/game. It will be an 8 person nl holdem game. I've played poker for about a year online and a few live games, but i've never played for money. I am facing 7 other amatures. They do some very dumb things, and quite honestly they suck at poker. They always limp in, even on 7 2 os, never raise pre-flop unless they have pocket pair or AA KK, call everything, minimum bet, don't understand positioning at all, bluff on 9 high, stay in when they have a POSSIBLE straight or flush after the flop, and fold when they could have checked. I was wondering what type of stratagy I could use against these noobs. I know I can outplay them by far but it always seems like they get a rediculously lucky draw, like having 6 2 and getting a straight. Regardless of what I said, do you have any general or specific tips on how I should play to beat these guys? Also, where could I find a site that would help me host this? I'm pretty much looking for a blind schedule and things like that. I'm not actually hosting this, my friend is, but seeing as he has no idea what he's doing, I'm going to help him. Thanks in advance for your time.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

DO NOT TRY TO BLUFF!!!!!
Bad players cannot be bluffed.
Wait for a good hand and then bet the hell out of them. Be careful about slowplaying anything less than a monster, make them pay to suck out.

This thread is not in any particular order so i applogise in advance.
You need to realise that they will play any hand and because of this their money will drift away slowly. Sit there really tight and wait for a pretty good hand. You need to realise that if your starting requirements are higher than theirs, the chances are, when you play, you'll have a better hand-However this is not written in stone and nothing is definate. They could hit a lucky flop and you end up "brown-bread".
Sit tight and NEVER bluff. Also learn who is willing to bet and how much. If someone raises-learn who calls and who folds??? This sounds really petty, but as they are newbes some will want lots of action for a small risk. As soon as someone raises; they'll fold. This will give you a big advantage later on.
Also realise that you have a big advantage at reading potential formations within the community cards. By this i mean if there are two high hearts on the flop, they'll be looking for pairs and three-of-a-kind, you know there is a potential flush.
One other thing, i'm thinking they will play Ace-junk, as most newbie's think this is a good hand. Just beware if the flop produces an Ace.
To recap-play tight and never go all-in. (as over the course of the game, you should have enough edge to win more than you lose)
Good luck
(i remember when i introduced my mates to poker. it was about an hour into the game and the flop was QQJ. One of the guys bet, someone else called, I folded my A-junk suited.. The turn was T and the river 9. They both continued to bet small and at the showdown one of them showed 76 off-suit and the other had 23 off-suit.-I wish they still played like that now!!!)

Does anyone know where I can find a good website to tell me how to host my own tournament? I've seen a good one before but I can't recall the name.
