It has been WAYYYY too long...

But I finally SORT OF WON another MTT for the first time in ages.

This was the stars rebuy $5 on Thursday .. After a tough 8 hours we were down to the final three and decided to chop (we were pretty much even in chips, with about 200k dividing us, even though we each had almost 3 million a piece).

It was chopped evenly for $3725 EACH and with $300 leftover for the eventual winner. (Not me.. lol).

So the winner got to keep his extra $300 (i pushed as soon as the chop was announced) but all three of us go away super happy.

If you were curious, I think I bought in, rebought instantly for a 3k stack, and i'm unsure as to whether i busted once early or not. So a max of 25 buck investment for THIS. I'm so unbelievably happy =)

BTW: A biiiiig thanks to the IRC crew that, despite their hatred of my supahax, were cheering me on. Told you I wouldn't choke!

Great work man! :D Like I said in IRC, I'm extremely happy for you.

Does this mean you'll be playing some MTTs now?

Excellent work, supa, it was very exciting to watch the final four tables, nice one.

IMHO, this definitely qualifies as a WIN. 8)

Yeah, seriously, nice accomplishment and very well played.

Never realized how fun IRC is with everyone there.

Keep it up and play some MTTs on Stars with Johny and I.

Not A Win!

Sure if you had chopped and came away with the biggest portion then you could feasably call it a win, but this is more like a 3rd.

No luck supa, better luck next time. Wink

Nice 3rd tho

Razz

lol webbie your argument holds no water.

1st place got: 4025
Other player that got second got: 3725
supafrey our hero got: 3725

AT THE VERY WORST I'M TIED FOR SECOND. What is this third nonsense

=)

btw. when i WON this, I thought of you, webbie. You were the inspiration for my complete lack of tightness during the rebuy period.

Nice job and congrats.
Wow 8 hours of online play , I am not up to that , yet!

How many started this MTT?

Posted Fri Jul 14, 2006 8:44 am GMT by supafrey
Just under 1400 ppl, i think.

Posted Fri Jul 14, 2006 8:51 am GMT by UrAteUp
Good job Supa. Feels great I am sure. Keep it up so you can keep up your bragging rights... Smile

BTW second out of 1000 is hardly bad. Think how many times we all would have been happy for second... Laughing

Aww, I was all ready with a "2nd place is first loser rant" and then you had to go and spoil it all with crediting me Embarassed

Well done supa, those $5 w/ rebuys can be a minefield, at any stage you can come up against someone who is hard of thinking but gets lucky on you. Out of 1400 any top money spot is pretty damn amazing.

Nice chop too, An even split is always good, after 8 hours who can blame you for going nuts after the chop is made.

Good job my young padawan Wink

Technically, isn't 2nd place the last loser? I've never understood that whole "first loser" cliche... guess people need to make themselves feel like crap for doing well without winning.

Please don't tell me that ostate won?

Posted Fri Jul 14, 2006 10:52 am GMT by Johny
Yes, he did. He really did make some terrible calls. In most of those situations it was obvious he was way behind.

Question: Once the chop is decided, how do you enforce the dividing up of the prize money for an online tourney? Does the site just pay everybody according to the prize schedule and then you're on the "honor system" to send each other the appropriate amounts, or is there a way to do this directly through the site as they are paid out? I don't play many MTTs, so I've never had this situation come up online.....maybe I'm missing something obvious?

Posted Fri Jul 14, 2006 11:04 am GMT by Johny
When interested in a deal the players contact support. Support ajusts the prizes according to the chop and the players get their money after the tournament is over.

Posted Fri Jul 14, 2006 12:46 pm GMT by supafrey
Yeah I had to email pokerstars (everyone at the table sat out as we had already decided this) to let them know we needed a poker room manager to discuss a chop.

Thanks. Good to see that the online sites can be as flexible as a B & M. I'd bet that a lot of online players wouldn't realize that chopping is an available option since people can "see" the pit boss or floor man, but you kind of forget about that stuff sometimes when you're in the automated world of online poker. Thanks for the info guys.

If someone is banned from chat on a poker site and get to the final table, do they get chat re-established so they can discuss a chop? Or what happens if the person has chat disabled? I think in the Sunday PS $200 the poker room manager automatically comes in near the end and ask people if they want to deal and I'm curious what would happen in the two cases above.

Yes they get their chat back. I stand to be corrected, but I think at Stars as soon as there's 5 players left they get their chat back until the end of the tournament.

If not, you can e-mail support about it.

I dont think it's automatically restored.

at the FT of one of the 1 Mi guaranteed on PS, a player who had his chat removed was sitting in & out continuously to cacth Lee Jones (or 1 of the players attention) about the fact he had no chat avail.

I don't think they get it back either.

My dad was at the FT of the 200$ Omaha weekly a few times and did not get his chat restored. He emailed PS as well and they still didn't do anything. Instead, he told me to get on and type messages for him to communicate with the other players.

Webby should have the answer, he's been in this situation a few times. Razz

I'm probably wrong. I do know Webby got his chat back. I don't remember how though.
