is, when you've got a board of 8 10 10 K, and its obvious that other other person at least has a 10, why someone with, say QQ will push if they should easily be able to tell they are behind? I'll never understand it, just happened to me, i get K 10s in late pos w/ no raise to me. i limp, flop is 8 T T and theres a good sized bet to me and i call....turn is the King, giving me 10s full of kings.....now the villian pushes, and he had me covered....im putting him on either Aces, Queens or Jacks.....
he turns over QQ and the river is a Q, made me so sick, as now i am broke....oh well...i mean sure he won, he had teh better hand preflop, i got my money in when i had the best hand. I just do not understand why people do this when its easy to tell they are behind and down to 2 outs. If anyone can answer this for me, so i can get inside the head of a donk, please help
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

Simple:
Everybody wants to win, and they want it badly. So in despair they'll call when they have the worst of it in hopes that it will turn around and when it is obvious that their hand is behind (especially if it is a hand that was very strong before) they just go into denial and shove all their money into the middle.
I could probably go into a lot of detail why all this makes perfect evolutionary sense and therefore is imbedded into almost all humans, and that it is VERY unlikely that there exists ANY poker player who hasn't done something similar.
But I don't want to. :D

Something similar happened to me yesterday.
Was holding A10os in big blind playing .10/.25 on Party. 4 limpers ahead of me, raise to .75 to try and get some people out, 2 stick around.
Flop comes J/Q/x . First to act bets $1, 2nd folds, I call.
Turn comes K
First to act bets $2, I push him all in, he calls.
River comes J, he fills up, my straight is no good.
Really sent me off the deep end.
The one thing that I can't believe about poker is how much tilt really really matters. When I'm on tilt it seems like not only am I playing my good hands badly and my bad hands worse, but it seems like I can have any 2 cards in my hand, and still lose. It's crazy. At least that's what happens to me.

Well saying that its obvious you have at least a 10 is going a bit overboard dont you think? He has one piece of information to work with, you calling his big bet after the flop. In an unraised pot you could have any number of hands and make that call. For all he knows you could have an 8 or a smaller pp. Or a straight draw for that matter, or you're simply planning a bluff if he checks the turn. Since he didnt open the pot with a raise, theres simply too many different hands you could have for him to be sure you have a hand that beats him.
It was definately poor play on his part, but hes not a complete donk. Just try to learn from his mistake and dont get yourself into a similar situation in the future.

his push when K came was stupid and u should be really happy about it.
when TTx flop comes it is less likely and opponent has the third T,
and stop being result oriented, what came down on river is irelevant.

BANKROLL MANAGEMENT is your friend

I know it's frustrating but the situation you provided is an ideal one. You want to get your money in as a favorite. That's how you make money in the long run.

i think some ppl just cannot lay down a good starting hand no matter wut is happening....take for instance a situation where 5 ppl see the flop after 3-4x raises, the flop is A 6 7 , then there is heavy betting and it ends up going to showdown and some dufus has K K ....i see this even more when the flop is raggity, w/ a ten, maybe w/ a low pair or suited/connected...and there is heavy betting back and forth forever between many ppl, and some dipshit shows down w/ AKo w/ no flush potential or anything...he wasn't even trying to bluff w/ it, just calling it down...ppl just cant let go sometimes...i suppose tho that in the long run, this is good for you...they'll lose chips, hopefully to you....altho when they hit those 2-outers, it does suck quite a bit....

People getting married to good starting hands is great. Suck it up, move on and clean up.
