bet the minimum then feel special when they fold to a raise?
I see this alot,
flop
AA5
guy bets minimum
other guy raises
first guy folds and types " nice ace buddy "
I just don't understand the whole bet the minimum idea, anyone care to elaborate or is it just dumb.

If by some chance he doesn't have an ace he might think that you have the Ace and you are making a small value bet for some action.

Most commonly the first person is making a post-oak bluff, betting a spineless amount hoping that he can steal the pot. This is usually a terrible play because an experienced player would bet a major amount and take the pot there. Although there is another reason that people may make a bet such as that. They may have the ace; knowing that the opposition will likely raise or call, they could be milked into losing all their money. Overall it is a bad play unless used in my second reason given.
