Generally speaking, how many Big Blinds/buy-ins should you have before moving up to the next higher limit. Say that the next higher limit is .10/.20, what kind of BR would you advise to get to to comfortably play at this limit? Thanks

I agree, but it depends somewhat. You may be able to get away with as little as 200 big bets if the games are juicy, and you might want as much as 500 in the face of some big swings (particularly if you play Stud).

So, is it safe to say that you can reasonably expect to move up to the next higher limit every month or so? I assumed the following which I know from personal experience are high numbers, but with multi-tabling I think its possible. I figured @ 5BB/hour with 10 hours of poker a day. To put it into context, at the current game im playing at (.02/.04) my BR will be up to $60 in about a month at which point I can move up to .10/.20. Does that sound right?

5BB/hour is extremely optimistic. It's impossible over any length of time. Really good players generally can do between 1 and 2BB/hour.
Same thing can be said about 10 hours of poker a day unless you're mutitabling and are really talking about table hours (two-tabling five hours a day still would be pretty tough; five-tabling two hours a day would be do-able probably, though your BB/hour would suffer).
But to answer the basic question, $60 would indeed be a good roll to play .10/.20. I just wouldn't count on getting there in about a month if it would require what you're describing.
