Ok, here's a trip report for ya. :D

Both planes out got delayed so we got to town three hours later. :p
We arrive at the Golden Nugget on Fremont and check ourselves in. Leave the bags up at the room and head out to the strip to go exploring. We work our way down to Bellagio where we surprise my friend S. His buddy B met us there and S didn't know he was going to. It was hilarious.

We check out the poker room but it's pretty quiet so wander around a little and play a couple of slots. I hate slots, but I figured I'd go with it. The guys play a little roulette and I watch, and we just kind of wander around. We head over to Caesars and look at the poker room. VERY nice. It's new and pretty big. Have a few drinks and wander over to the Alladin where B is staying. Grab a bite and the guys play some more roullete and slots while I watch. We walk B back up to his room and then head back to our hotel to get about three hours of sleep.

S wakes us up and we get ready and go hit the buffet. Then it's down to the poker room to play a little 2/4 hold 'em. NICE room. Small, about 9 tables with plasma TVs everywhere. Richard Kind from Spin City walks by and says hi and watches us play for a couple of minutes. S busts out about an hour and a half or so later. J and I get up and leave. I'm up about 60 bucks. We meet up with B at Caesar's and play some 3/6 hold 'em. I start off slow, but move seat to sit next to the other three and go on a tear. I bought in for $100 and cash out for ~$250. Oh hell yeah. Total up = ~$210

Then it's off to the Rio to see Penn & Teller. We get there early and decide to walk down to the convention center to see the World Series of Poker. OH...MY...GOD! The list of names we see is RIDICULOUS!

At the tables:
JESUS FERGUSON!!!
Mike Sexton
Tuan Le
Joe Hachem (2005 Main event winner)
Kathy Liebert
Hoyt Corkins

And walking around:
Shawn Sheikan
Ron Rose
BARRY GREENSTEIN!!!
Sean Black
Jon Bonnetti
Todd Brunson
DOYLE BRUNSON!!!
CHIAU GIANG!!!

I see Gabe Kaplan (Welcome Back Kotter) walk by and I say hi. He waves.

I KNOW I'm missing some. The room was HUGE. AT LEAST 200 tables.

We go and see Penn & Teller. Awesome show, but they do a few old tricks that we'd seen before. S gets an autograph and we actually got to hear Teller talk a little. :D

Off to the Nugget where I piss away $60 at the 2/4 table because I was too tired and too stupid to go to bed instead. BUT, Jason Alexander was playing 1/2 no limit at the table next to us. That was pretty cool. He looked like he was at the tail end of a very long day. I go to bed and S and J play a little more, then head off to get something to eat. S and I wake up the next morning. I got about 6 hours of sleep so I'm feeling better. We play a little more 2/4 and a fight breaks out at our table. It's a long story, but basically one guy was being loud and having fun (and dumping off chips to the rest of the table) and two drunk idiots chased him off by insulting him. So he took his money and ran. Sad But before he left, he apologized to one of the drunks and plunked a twenty stack of dollar chips in front of him. The drunk picks up the chips and says, 'I don't need your f*cking money!' and throws them at the guy. Security comes, one of the drunks gets 86ed and everyone calms down. I'm down about $15, S is up about $50 and we get J and grab a bite to eat.

We don't get to see B again because his flight takes off earlier than ours. We go and check out Madame Tuseau's Wax Museum, which was pretty cool, but a bit of a rip off at $24 a head. Then it's off to the Stratosphere where we check out the city from over a thousand feet up. That was uber cool.

We take a cab down to the Excalibur where we check our bags and walk over to Luxor through a tunnel. Luxor is really weird. All of the rooms line the four walls of the pyramid at an angle and the casino floor and all the restaraunts and clubs are in the middle. We went up to the 25th floor and you can see right out and over the casino. Vertigo set in and we moved back down to the safety of the 1st level. As we're moving towards the Excal to play some more poker, we stop by the Lux' poker room. Small, really low limits. But we decide to stop there instead. Good choice.

I sit at 2/4 and S and J sit at a 2/2 table, which is a very odd limit. They have it tucked away on the end of the poker room (which is really not a room but a roped off section of the casino floor). After about 40 minutes or so I hear, 'JACKPOT' from the dealer over at the 2/2 table. Luxor has bad beat and high hand jackpots. J beat another guy at the table when her pocket 6s made four of a kind against the other guy's pocket aces which made a full house. Both hands qualified for the bad beat jackpot. The guy who lost with the full house got a $500 bonus. J got a $260 bonus PLUS a $20 bonus for four of a kind, (She started wishing she lost the hand at that point. :D), and S and everyone else at the table got $40. So after a little while I move over there just to hang out and have fun. We have a blast, the table if fun and everybody's talking to everybody. After an hour we all feel like a bunch of friends playing in a home game. A couple of high hands jackpots hit for $20 each. We end up playing for five hours until it's time to go to the plane. I'm down about $5 and spread about $5 or 6 around in tips.

Gambling wise I'm up about $115 for the trip, J is up over $300 with the Jackpot. S is up just under $50 for poker but almost even for all the gambling. And B is down almost $200. Great trip and a hell of a nice break from work. :D

I actually was going to PM you to let you know I was coming, but with only a couple of days to be there and hanging out with the group I didn't think I'd have time to meet any of the guys from the board.

Caesar's was Wednesday afternoon and Luxor was Thursday night. Luxor was actually better than I expected. The room (more of a sectioned off part of the casino floor) and the limits were small, but the dealers were fun and they have high hand and bad beat jackpots which keeps it fun.

Oh ok I was there on Saturday. I thought the room was a bit of a dump myself...no bigger limits than 2/4, dealers were ok but some got frustrated at the players (a lot of the newbies weren't tipping), racks looked like out of the stone age, I dunno...didn't really impress me, but I did take a lot of crappy players' money, so thats good.
