So.. last Friday was our home game. There were 9 of us turned up and it was the usual situation of lots of beer, some good chat and some great poker. We are an ecclectic mix of experience from the beginner right through to a couple of experienced players.
The story starts with a deal whereby I was convinced that another player next to me had accidentally mixed up mine and his cards. Neither of us had looked at them but I thought that the card he had was meant to be dealt to me... "Doesn't matter", says I, "its probably fate..."
Needless to say I was very happy when I looked down at my A A hole cards...
So, betting commences, a few calls.. a raise... my re-raise.. folds.. then an all in by one of the lads... fold fold and then my call.
2 players in.. me all in and him with about three quarters of his stack in.
He turns his cards over with a smug grin... As Ac...
I turns over my Ad Ah
Split pot someone shouts out... "Not yet," I corrected, "one of us could get a flush"
Flop comes down 10h 5h 3c
(you can see where this is going right?)
Turn card Jh
River card Kh... WAIT... someone shouts out, the dealer didn't burn the river card.... he's right, the dealer had just flipped the river without burning...
He puts the Kh on the bottom of the pack and turns a 7h !!!!!
Superb!! So I won a showdown of 2 sets of AA's with a flush...
I went on to come third in the tourney. I'm not sure of the odds of that scenario happening but one of the lads there who's good at maths reckons around 480,000:1
What a result! :D
