Recently (the last week or so) the desire to play poker hasn't been there for me. I don't know exactly when it happened, but it was semi-abrupt. I was doing fine, bankroll was going up instead of down, I was feeling pretty good about how my game was improving. I went from talking and thinking about poker all day to not really wanting to play it seemingly overnight. The couple of times that I have played during this period have seemed boring to me. Also, any focus and reasoning ability that I may have developed seems to be turned off. Anyone else ever experience a burnout like this? Did it just go away?
It sucks. I really like that I was enjoying poker so much.
As a side note, I downloaded PartyGammon and have been playing that a little to kill time (for play money since I've never played BG before). That's a pretty fun game .
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

i thinnk its normal to get that eventually,
dunno what to say about recovering from it i think to balance live before it gets to any kind of burnout is the best thing

I'm going through the same thing. I'm not having much fun and my bankroll is decreasing because of it. I find myself playing poorly when I know better. I know what I should be doing but I do the opposite anyways.
If this continues I don't know what I'll do. I may have to stop playing if it doesn't start to get better.

Heh, ive been playing a lot of hands to get ready for my vegas trip and I keep running into this. I hate making the wrong move when I know its wrong. I sure hope I'm not creating any bad habits.
