Hey guys, looking for opinions/advice.
I've been playing here and there for a while but haven't put in a big effort yet. Have played mainly with friends and such as well as play money at various sites. I basically just never had the desire to make a bigger push at learning the cash game. Decided to finally.
I feel I'm a decent player considering my experience so I'm looking to improve as best I can while moving up through the stakes. I'm looking for a good site to start out with. Here's what I'd like:
- Low minimum deposit (wanted to do Full Tilt, but don't want to put in $50)
- Decent competition (some good players but not full of pros or anything)
- Bonus sign-up offers would be nice, not needed
- Low rake would be sweet too
I'm looking to start pretty low, maybe with $10-$20 deposited and start at the lower tables such as .25/.50 and see where I can go from there.
Any opinions on which site would suit me best?
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

When I signed up for Royal Vegas a year or two ago they gave you $10 just for signing up and no deposit necessary. That's all I've ever put in there and it's at around $75 right now.

Aman King...if you want to be real nice sign up with Doyles and use King as your referrel. He gets some $$ when you hit 2500 action points which is easy at Doyles. Also if you hit 10,000 action points you get a free hard bound copy of SS2. Rake is minimal and as king says there is a good sign up bonus always going on at Doyles.

Hey thats a Terrific idea!
If i recall correctly though, i think when registering there were 2 options to choose for when reaching so and so many Action Points; get the sign up bonus OR go for the SS2 book.

I notice most people use things like Neteller...is there any danger in using a Visa?

i built my entire roll on there from an initial £10 deposit with no bonuses or anything.

Hey th3pac!
I'm really new here too and like you have recently decided to step up my game and take the plunge in cash games online.
If it's any help to you I learnt from these boards that it's best to have 200/300 times one big bet in your bankroll to play at any given table.
For example, I plan to deposit $50 at poker stars and play their 0.05/0.10 games (0.10*300 = $30 - So I still have a good buffer and able to play some higher games if I am feeling confident). Like you, I wanted to play at full tilt also (love the interface), but sadly the smallest limit games they have is .25/.50 which would require around $125/150 to play. Also, I think I’d need a little more expertise.
I'm going to play with my 50 bucks for sometime at the really micro levels then considering stepping up through the stakes which may one day take me to my beloved full tilt!
p.s. Poker stars has really small limits but don't think it has any deposit bonuses.

Heard TitanPoker is good cause of Freerolls. Is it worth playing on if I were able to build a small bank there or would it basically be wasting my time?

You can't. Credit cards won't do transactions with gambling sites.

Are you sure? Why then do most sites offer credit card deposits?
