Why do i seem to get so many long bad beats? |

I've been playing a lot of poker lately, online and i regard myself as a slightly tight player. I have become much more familiar with the game, pot odds etc, and reading other people. However, recenlty, when playing 'premium' hands like AA KK QQ JJ QK AK, I have raised, like i should, in any position, and the flop always seems to come something like 345 or 662, no picture cards, even if there are they are not the ones i need to get better than a pair. Someone ALWAYS seems to win with a straight, flush, three of a kind, or just two pair.
I don't see how I could play these hands any better than to raise preflop and maybe call/fold postflop depending on hoe bad the flop is. Someone ill probably win with 666, calling my preflop raise with 26. This sends me on tilt and i start calling T6 and hands like that, to no avail, could someone please tell me how I could win these hands, is my luck really out or should I be playing the hands differently, AA doesn't even make me happy anymore, as i'm sure I won't win that hand.

Just keep playing them the same way that you are. When you have high pockets you are always going to run the risk of all low cards coming out. It's just the nature of the odds. You'll see in time that you will get as many high flops as well. When those low flops hit, you just have to bet big and be able to lay down those high cards if someone plays back at you.

sometimes the best play is to lay down a high pocket pair if you get a stupid flop. plays like you described happen to us all from time to time, so don't worry too much.

Doyle Brunson says in his book Super System that you are either going to win a little or lose a lot with hands like KK and AA. THe best way is to avoid being burned by stupid flops is to make your raise bigger. If you get AA, don't be afraid to go all in, it is the correct move, unless you are 100 percent sure that a player is loose enough to call you with just about anything. I say you're getting beat because you are either playing in a really loose game or you aren't making a big enough move. The only time you could "safely" slow pay pocket aces is in a heads up or even a 3 person game.

I started to realise why now, I've been playing low pot limit at pacific poker, so basically i will get called if i raise as it's only about 10c, between 2 and 5 people will stay in so I often get out drawn.
