Disconnects in Tourney - FFS

Okay, WTF is with sites allowing 'disconnected' players to sit at tourney tables? IMO, they need to be removed ASAP as I got screwed tonight because of them.

I entered into a $250 weekly freeroll, registered days ago, and was looking forward to it. It starts up and I'm on a table with FIVE disconnected people. So, these are people that I cannot make money off of and worse was none were to my left, meaning I couldn't blind steal off them.

So, what happens in 1 guy ends up knocking 2 people out at the same time and goes up to 6000 chips almost right off the start. Table remains with 2 open seats for a while with me, another at 2000, the big stack and 5 disconnected. The other guy with 2000 got caught and lost 1500 to the big stack. Basically, he then so dominated me that it was impossible to make any moves. Regardless of what I had, how or when I raised he was calling me down and since I was getting nothing or barely playable hands I was never putting anything together. He would call me out to the end with almost nothing and hit, never letting me take a pot when my actions show I should've been ahead.

What this meant is I slowly lost chips and what and what made it worse was 3 new people came to the table, all with 4000+ chips and now I had 4 people that would refuse to allow me to steal, raise without a reraise, etc. I was catching bad cards and eventually held A3h from BB, flopped 5h8h10c and check-raised and then bet the turn into the big stack, knowing I was ahead and had lots of outs. My last heart never came, I went all-in on the turn when a 3 came (low board overall) and the big stack won with Jacks.

I'm not making excuses because I know I'm not the best or anything but I couldn't believe the impact that many disconnects had on me (largely due to my position as well as the play of others). Watching myself go down and down, getting garbage hands and getting bullied off mediocre hands was very frustrating.

Is this common? This was at Doyle's Room but I certainly hope it is not common. Do all sites allow these disconnects to just sit there? They should at least be proportioned better as to not have FIVE at one table. Anyway, maybe I shouldn't be so pissed but I really am.

It's perfectly legal to sit out or not show up as long as you have registered for the tournament.

I class this along with guys that min buy in at cash games, it's annoying as hell, but perfectly valid and acceptable.

It's very common in freerolls across all networks unfortnately.

I know it's legal, just very annoying.

Like I said, I know it happens but what really bothered me is that there seems to be no effort to even them out when tables are altered. My friend was in the same tournament and he had no disconnect people at his table for almost the entire thing, while I had 5? Seems pretty lame Sad

Oh well, cheered myself up by coming 3rd in an SnG getting NO playable hands lol (only one I had was AQ in SB but it was off suit, UTG raised 4x and it came to me - thought for a second and folded, guy behind me goes all-in and UTG flips over QQ)

So far, in real money (although low stakes) I've played 3 SnGs and have a 1st, 3rd and 4th Smile (3rd and 4th both tonight and I've seriously had no cards at all today)

That tournament just really annoyed me. I know I could've done okay, maybe pushed for money if the cards were good (weren't so I doubt it) but I was looking forward to it and I go out like that. I don't mind losing, I just hate situations like that. I essentially couldn't do anything but play monsters, had absolutely none the entire game and was essentially forced to go all-in with a mediocre hand. I know that's poker, but I also know it would've been so different with at least 2-3 fewer disconnects.
