Hey guys,
it's been a while since I posted an update on the trip, so here we go.
Wednesday (26th july) : did nothin special during the day, playin some slots if I remember correctly...late at night I went to Rio's poker room although I didnt want to play poker...bad idea cause I lost $120 or smthin...with the win that I had early in the morning that makes is +$815 for the day
Thursday : That is the day I met Adam, Sid and General Sal. That was really great. Adam, Sid and me met at the Mirage where we played some NL1/2...none of us won or lost any remarquable amount. Then we headed to the Rio to meet Mike (Sal). We went to the Pacific so-called party, which was just a small buffet. We eat a bit then go have some drinks at the Tilted Kilt in Rio. We have some beers and started to lose Mike who cant handle alcohol quite well it seems ;) (he was tired he said *cough*)
I have a shot (vodka + grenadine + tabasco...that was a first even for the bar tender) with adam and get a couple more myself after that.
I leave the guys at the elevators as Adam had to play on friday and I go to the poker room a bit drunk, a bit tired and in no-mood to play poker...lethal combo I tell you. Result : I lost $615 wasting about $500 on JJ that I couldnt lay down on ragedy board showing 3 hearts. Stupid me.
Time for bed
Friday : I leave the Stratosphere to spend the week-end in the room of my 2 belgian mates sleeping on the sofa so I dont have to pay the expensive price of the week-end.
First day of WSOP Main Event...crazy shit over there. Plenty of websites are giving out free stuff, stars signing autographs (I cant care less about having an autograph btw). So I go with my 2 friends and we grab some stuff here and there.I dont remember playing poker that day.
Saturday : Wake up quite late...My friends had left already when I wake up and the call me to meet them at the Bellagio. They had an appointment with a swedish friend of them who had just placed in 1 of the $1000 buy-in tourneys they run twice daily there. He got $40K in a 6 or 7-way deal...I really need to play one of those. We then go to the Venetian where we have dinner in an expensive restaurant (feels good to eat smthin else than burger & pizza). We play some slots while waiting for a seat in the poker room. I have a very good day at poker and win $1000+
Hand of the day :
I raise $20 w/ AA in UTG. I get 2 callers. Flop comes AQ8 rainbow.
I bet $40, both call. Turn is J.
I bet $50 I think (weak bet I know). Guy 1 calls, Guy 2 goes all-in for $70 more. I think I'm in bad shape at that point but I want to get rid of Guy1 (who has about $300+ more) so I push. He says "you push ??? I call !". I'm like "oh f*ck". He shows KT hitting the gutshot on turn. Guy2 has T9 for the low straight. River is a J :p
Guy1 goes mental and starts saying shit like "Lucky like he dog that you are" about 6 times in a row. The rest of the table table agrees that he got lucky on turn and that there's nothin I could have done about it.
On a side note there was a very cute Somoan girl with big boobs right in front of me...kinda distracting, and she was quite good too.
Sunday : I went to Caesar's palace with my belgian mates, played poker for about an hour and won $160. Went for a walk to collect some more chips for my "collection". Back at the Rio, I go check the poker room and I find Ty (sinc) playing. He was down to 7000+ TC when I left him.
Rest of the evening was doing stupid gambles with the 2 roommates...like making planes with $1 notes and throw them in the hall, the one who throws it the most far wins all the bills :p
Today : Woke up, went to ty's room to chat a bit and now we are about to go have dinner.
Total in poker : +3000
I will maybe try the Bellagio's $1000 tourney...tempting :)
An update coming soon.
Cya !
Mika

from what i've gathered on irc he'd never give up online games for the live ones. no need to worry america, he ain't staying.

Hey guys,
right now there is absolutely no chance I'm moving to this town. I like it for 2 or 3 weeks but after I'm going to start missing my town and friends...
Also online gaming is definitely easier, more juicy and less boring than live play.
Live play is fun now and then but I dont think I would like doing that on a daily basis, 8h/day
The only thing I can think live play is better for is when u are a tournament player.
Quick update :
Yesterday I went to eat at the Rio's buffet with Ty...this is one crazy buffet...the biggest one in town actually. Kinda cheap too, $25 yesterday and today I went there again and only costed $17 (prolly because they had no/less seafruits)
After that I went to the Mirage to play some NL2/5...at some point I was up $700 but lost 2 stupid pots (1 I made the most stupid call on river in my life and the other one I got bluffed out with 2 pairs in a 7 way pot)
overall for the night I ended up at +330
Today woke up at 1PM, went to play some table game that is called WSOP : you bet a blind ($10), u get 2 cards, if u like them (u almost play any 2 cards :p) u bet double the blind (so u're in for $30 at that point) the flop is exposed, u can put another bet on the flop (so u bet for the turn, and that is the size of the blind...so u would be in for $40 total) but u are not forced to. Turn is bet, same thing : u can bet another additional $10 or check. Showdown, if u beat the dealer he doubles all the bets you've put (except the blind, unless u have straight or better)...or he takes all the bets. I won $160 before going to eat and grabbed $70 more afer the buffet.
Most probably going to play at the Venetian...update soon in another thread :)
Laterz,
Mika
