Will anyone be going to be in Aug? I am debating a Mon-Fri trip.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

Hey, I'm still kinda new here on thp and don't know you well but I'll be there with the family from the 19th till the 26th. I will be splitting from them for the most part so I'll be alone spending the majority of my time at the poker tables. It'll be cool if u would like to meet up and grab a beer or two. I'm 22 btw.
Oh and hell yeah it's too cheap not to go. I think we're paying about 900 a person for the 8 days.

Sounds good, I will keep you posted.
I am a youthful 35. As long as you dont mention 50cent or Snoog Dog, we can have 20-30 beers.

I didn't even know there WAS weather in Vegas. Where is it? Why would it matter? You aren't actually suggesting people leave the casino, are you? Are they allowed to do that?

Saw the fountain at the Bellagio just fine from my table in that French restaurant in the EyeFull tower. And you see one fake pirate drop in the drink, you've seen 'em all.
I don't plan on going outside again until they get all that air-conditioned. I can't see what's holding that up.

I will be there on "business" from Sept. 10-Sept. 17. Does my company have a freaking clue? Sending me to Vegas for a full week?
The funny thing is...it is actually CHEAPER to fly back Sunday (the business I am doing is done on Friday) and stay the extra two days than it is flying back Friday night or Saturday.
Anyone else going to be out there that week? If not to play poker, I have some buddies that live out there and I am sure we will paint the town red.

Dat-
I will be there from 9/7 to 9/11, so we will overlap one day. I am staying at Bellagio for the 4 days and flying out on the red eye on Monday night.

Nice! Are you going to do most of your playing at the Bellagio? The business I have is off strip (close to the airport), so I am staying at a Hilton off the strip. They do have a free shuttle to the MGM, so I would imagine I will be playing there most of the time.
Posted Tue Aug 15, 2006 12:30 pm GMT by shorn7
Yes. Most of my playing will be at Bellagio, but we will probably venture out to a few other spots for daily tourny's.
Too bad you are staying off the strip, but I guess no one would get any work done if you were on the strip ...

That new little bride is going to let you have a week in Vegas alone?... ...just remember what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas... . If you can get a shuttle to the strip Dat. Then any where you want to go on the strip is so easy to get to. You have the monorail system now and taxis. Hell take your two days and go to any you want to play at. The ride will be cheap enough. Just remember stay out of the titty shakers...your married now...

Was looking at hotels last night and talked to a travel agent the other day.
Just some questions for you Vegas vets.
Is Excalibur any good for a hotel? Looks like freaking Disneyland. Travel agent said its cheap and close to everything on the strip.
Travel agent also said don't bother with a travel agent as it is usually cheaper to book it all yourself. True?
Any other hotels to look into? Only requirements are fairly cheap, close to some good poker and club action.

Barbarycoast
is much better wont have a dead body in bed with u
Posted Sat Aug 19, 2006 2:53 pm GMT by MasterShake
I wasn't really a fan of Barbary Coast, but I didn't stay there, just watched some friends play roullete . Excal reminded me of a Chuck E. Cheese with a medival theme. If you just want the bed, then it's close to some really good properties.
Posted Sat Aug 19, 2006 8:19 pm GMT by groton
yah but the Excal is where they found a body in the matrest and i understand there rooms are realy nasty
were the coast is located dead center strip but with real cheap rates

Excalibur wasn't too bad when I stayed there.
The MGM Grand was pretty nice from what I remember, but also quite pricy from what I understand (I wasn't staying there on my bill).
If you're planning to stay there for awhile, I've heard good things about Emerald Suites, which include a full kitchen and are basically an apartment-style lodging at a decent weekly rate.

Check out the rates on the Southcoast if you can... it's about 3 or 4 miles south of the strip.... cheap rates though... you can cab from there, which isnt' gonnna be but $10 I think. They have their own pokerroom too

Very true. Check around online because you can find some great package deals for rooms and airfare.

Imperial Palace is my favorite cheap place to stay. Weeknights are $45/night right now and it is in a great location.

I mostly stay at Bellagio, but a lot of my buddles stay at the IP like Dave mentioned. It is right in the middle of the Strip and really cheap. I would suggest the IP if you are trying to do it as cheaply as possible.
Posted Tue Aug 22, 2006 10:29 am GMT by Dave B
Just booked at IP for 8/27-8/31.
YIPPEE!
Posted Tue Aug 22, 2006 1:25 pm GMT by UrAteUp
IP seems like decent rooms but the food sucked the only time I went in there and the casino manager was a real dickhead when I complained about the food. I didn't want my money back or more food. I just wanted him to know the hot food was cold, the cold drinks were hot and basically it sucked.

Even free meals arent worth the "cost". But the rooms and casino is fine.
This will be my 4th or 5th time there.

I'm going in about a week. Wife is going with so I will be lucky to get much poker in... oh cruel fate allow me to go to Vegas but deny me my daily 14 hours of poker.
I get one day for sure, might have to sneak downstairs every night for a few hours to get more.
