2/4 2 pr. confusion

Posted Tue Aug 01, 2006 11:47 pm GMT by zinn0
So I had this hand come up earlier. Lots of limpers, so I decide to follow suit. No use in building a big pot pre with AJo.

Villain 1 seems to be sort of tight pre and passive post over ~100 hands.

The river c/r confused the hell out of me and for a minute I thought he backed into a flush. I decided to make him show me 2 diamonds. Should I be raising in this spot?

Preflop: Hero is CO with J Diamond , A Spade .
1 fold, Villain 1 calls, MP1 calls, 1 fold, Hero calls, Button calls, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (6 SB) 7 Diamond , J Club , 2 Heart (6 players)
SB checks, BB bets, Villain 1 calls, MP1 raises, Hero calls, Button folds, SB folds, BB calls, Villain 1 calls.

Turn: (7 BB) A Diamond (4 players)
BB checks, Villain 1 checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets, BB folds, Villain 1 calls, MP1 folds.

River: (9 BB) 4 Diamond (2 players)
Villain 1 checks,Hero bets, Villain 1 raises, ,Hero calls

Final Pot: 9 BB

Nah. I think a smooth call there is fine, even preferable.

Sorry, is this limit or no limit? If it was no limit I probably would have thrown down a bigger bet on the turn to try and get the flush draw out. But in this situation, I just call on the river as well, but am fairly confident that my 2-pair is going to be the best hand.

looks like limit. No way you can fold to the CR on the river. Pot is too big and villain could easily has a smaller two pair here.

Yea, it is limit. Sorry for the confusion. Um, I wasn't really considering folding, just trying to decide whether I should be raising here or not.

I call.

Why not 3 bet the flop?

If you had done this, I would be much less worried about someone going runner runner flush.

You shouldn't raise here. Too many hands that can beat you. Just call and hopefully take it down.

dod you lose to a set of 7's, 2's or did he mock 2d4x? I can't believe someone will stay on the flop with 35 (even suited) and with diamonds only of he hit a pair - but you got Jd - so staying in the flop with any other D is simply stupid.

Shocked

I also 3-bet. What other hands can beat us right now? Not too many.

In hindsight I realize that I played this hand pretty passive. Had I raised either before the flop or more importantly, on the flop, everything would have been easier. As the history shows, I called the river raise and villain showed A4h for a lower two pair.
