Another Vegas thread...

I played in the Bellagio $1000 NLH at 2:00pm today. I tried to get in two days before but at 1:00pm they were at the 104th alternate and I didn't want to deal with that.
Started with 5K in chips, 40 minute levels, actually quite a nice little tourny. There were about 450+ players in the one I was in I think.
Got up to about 22K by the 6th level. I was sitting to the left of John Pham for most of the tournament, at least when he was present. I know from playing with him at the Mirage WPT event a while ago that he is freakishly aggressive. He was also playing in the "big game" at the same time and swept into the tourny periodically to play a dubious hand. Every time though, he'd double up when he went in with the worst of it. Then he'd leave and play his cash game for a while. Also of note is that he was drinking quite a bit, and whenever he returned to the table he seemed to have a full glass of cristal.
Anyway, nobody wanted to raise into his blinds, because he would invariably come over the top of them. So when I was big and he was the little, everyone would typically fold. Then he would raise into me. The first time he when all-in blind for 5K or so and I had AQo. Call. He had T8s or something like that. He hit. Doubled him up. He leaves and everyone else plays real poker for a while.
He comes back, everyone folds to our blinds. He raises it to 3x or so. I've got A9s. I'm all-in. He calls with KQ. He hits it. I make him the chip leader at the table. He leaves.
I later run into aces and that's pretty much that. Went out maybe 95th or so.
Fun tourny though, I highly suggest it.

Otherwise, ya, Vegas is fun. Not doing much else except playing poker and drinking occasionally. I'm up for the trip until the hotel bill goes through. Smile
I might actually go to the Orleans tomorrow to see "Lady in the Lake" or whatever the hell it's called. But ya, not much else to report. Just wanted people to know I'm still alive.

Did they have live satellites to this event Adam? Or is this one of the regular Bellagio tournaments?

Also, what were the starting blinds if you don't mind me asking?

It is the daily Bellagio tourny. They generally offer 1 table sattelites to get into the 2 PM event each morning from 9 AM on (I think it is like $120 or so with the winner getting the buy-in). I plan on playing in this tourny when I head out in September at least once.

Actually, I think this is a special tournament series. It's the "Bellagio Cup II" and it runs only until August 10th. They're having a culminating $10K NLH event that starts on the 7th.
I'm sure the Bellagio does run daily tournaments, but I'm not sure what those are like. General Sal would know...
