Do site promotion bonuses hurt or help the world of poker?
I admit – I am old school…I used to have to fly out to Vegas to get a game, and spend hours on end learning ant testing from home. Though I was very happy when Internet poker took off, and I no longer had to travel for a game, I can’t help but feel site promotion bonuses hurt the game.
Players no longer need to learn the game, no tuition for rookies to pay. Heck I even came across a site – bonushogs.com – that does nothing but instruct players to play micro stakes and make money of site promotion deals.
Pros are that the world of players is growing – this is great!
Cons are it gives the game of poker (which I hold in the highest esteem) an element of prostitute (ish) if you will. These are not poker players!
I would be happy to hear any comments.
Regards
Dan
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com
