Time before making your move? |

Friend of mine was saying when he plays online he forces himself to take at least 3 seconds on every single move he makes, even if it is an instant fold type move, etc. He says this keeps his moves deceptive as nothing will be given away based on the time he takes to make his move (ie. quick check often means strength...stuff like that)
Wondering if anyone else does this and if it's worth the effort in the long wrong? Or simply overdoing it?
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

I try to take the same amount of time every time I make a "big" decision (ie whether to fold, call, or reraise an opponent's bet). But for hands that should be folded without a second thought, there's no need to go Hollywood and waste everyone's time.

I don't think online players are observant enough for it to matter.

My thoughts exactly, was just wondering what others thought.

a bad connection makes a 3 second lag anyways. no need for drama.

Your friend is an ass as far as i'm concerned. He's not much better than those clowns who use all of their alloted time every time the action is on them. He thinks the same way they do, that's for sure.
edit: To show you how wrong your friend is about this, i have something for him to TRY and wrap his brain around: people playing multiple tables will often use the check/fold and other similar options so they can focus their attention where it's most needed. Not everyone playing online tries to be a drama llama.

I read that same time for action some where in a book once. I thought it was funny then and still do. Betting patterns are more apt to be picked up then time action patterns. If your friend is that worried about it ask him why he even bothers because we all know online poker is rigged...
