Has anyone watched this before? Saw it tonight and it was the most retarded thing I have ever seen.
He was like trying to teach this girl to play Hold 'Em and it was retarded. His advice was a joke. He basically says to play any two suited cards. He was doing 'speed drills', turning over 2 cards and asking the girl to say 'stay' or 'pass' on whether she would play. She says pass on 93s and he says 'No, they're suited".
Apparently, it's VERY important to be QUICK about knowing if your hand is good. Pretty funny. He's doing everything as if you have 3 seconds to act in a game. He's also claimed the most important part of the game is 'reading the flop'.
I don't even know who he is, but has he even played before? He's also assuming that every person at the table is in every hand - he's like, if you have KQ and flop is 7K7, do you call or raise (doesn't mention anything about being 1st to act) and he says "You have to call, someone likely has the 7 with 10 people in the hand"...lol WTF, if you know you're against a set, WTF are you doing calling?
Ugh, anyway, off to bed, just had to post because it was a good laugh before bed.
Note: lol he makes NO sense. He's doing examples with KQ in pocket. When he shows a flop of 942 rainbow he says "Fold, you have nothing" which is somewhat true but doesn't explain anything about overcards. Then he shows 7Q9 and says, what do you do? He says "Don't raise! Someone could have 89, so many things out there" - he seems to think you MUST have the NUTS to RAISE but can CALL down with complete crap lol. He also just went from talking about reading the flop to check-raising. The girl looks so confused hehe.
OMG, last thing he says before I turn it off is: "For you folks at home that want to go try this, go online and just call call call, don't raise. You can watch the other players and learn". That's a pretty expensive lesson he just suggested lol. He just makes no sense. Using his methods you couldn't even beat a computer unless you had the nuts. It's like he's scared of every single possible hand on the flop. Anyway, gotta turn it off cause it's keeping me up it's so bad.
Did you know that participating in a poker forum can help you improve your own game? Be it by sharing experiences or simply asking for help, participation in a forum helps you focus and keep 'on topic' which will help you improve your game. You can learn from other players feedback and from their experiences. Why the THP poker forums? We offer one of the best managed texas holdem poker forums available, and the community within is far more friendly than those typicaly found on other sites. We've made a 'lurkers edition' of the poker forum available here on Holdem Poker Online, but we encourage all visitors to register and join in on the conversations on TexasHoldem-Poker.com

So now I understand where these players who I play online get their info from lol.
Wow, that must have been the funniest thing to watch. Who the hell is John Patrick? Could all of his advice and stuff been a joke?
It sounds so ridiculous that I want to see it for myself.

lol, if you get CGTV you should be able to find it. That's where I saw it. And yeh, it was insanely funny. Sure it was no joke, just some old man giving retarded advice. I couldn't stop laughing, and from what I know he is a PRO GAMBLER. Guess Pro doesn't mean Good lol.

Never read his books or seen his DVD's on Holdem or Poker but his stuff on roulette & craps is really good. He is REALLY good at money management. From all the books I've read (roulette) no one comes even close when it comes to money management. He lives in Florida now & is a pro gambler & does most of his money on sports betting & plays Holdem in private games. He also has his own web page & forum.

If he's giving advice on how to beat Roulette or Craps, no wonder he's such a moron.

The vig in craps is good. As for roulette I've made $$ on it & that's where the rubber meets the road man, making $$.

Another thing the $$ I made on roulette was from stuff in his Advanced Roulette book. Like him or not the guy makes his living strictly from from gambling so he must know something whether or not poker/holdem is his thing is another but he claims he plays Holdem 3 nights a week for $$. Calling him a moron reminds me of the guy who called Brunson a "hack" when the guy has what like 10 WSOP bracelets & several titles. What a hack.

I really think this factoid could likely be evidence that he's quite the opposite of a moron. Might illustrate some questionable ethics though.

I'm just an ignorant bystander, but my guess is the only one who win's roulette in the long run is,THE HOUSE.According to math that is,and simple logic. Not trying to be rude, but it's the truth.

No prob there but I'm not here to argue that particular point. Heck, I'm not here to argue ANY point! As for JP if anyone has seen his show or his video's the guy is hilarious man!! "....all you dorks out there...". My cousin was watching his video & he was like 'Man that guy stops just short of telling you you are a complete idiot". I can see why people don't like the guy. Having said that his money management stuff is great if you are gambling. I'd be curious to see him in a tournament. back to the original subject I don't see any professional roulette players...at all.
