My Vegas trip... (WARNING LONG AND BORING) |

was fairly successful.
Got their around noon, got checked in grabbed a bite to eat and then went to join my brother over at the Bellagio for some 4/8 poker. I played alright, got a nice buzz and lost about 20 or 30 bucks. Saw Phil Ivy (bro's wife got her picture with him) Phil Helmuth and Barry Greenstein playing Chinese Poker in the high stakes room. Saw phil laak and Tilly bumming it out on the regular tables but didn't get a chance to see what he was playing.
Friday joined the $65 +15 at Ceasar's which gives you 1500 chips and blinds start at 25/50 and last for 40 minutes. Neat little tournament. An extra $50 gives you 3K more in chips. This being my first live NL tourney I played it pretty weak tight. Lost in the 4th level when my poorly played AK ran into KK. Oh well, off to 1/2 NL.
Played 1/2 at ceasars for a while while my girlfriend tried out the 3/6 limit game and I managed to hit a few cards and win some nice pots. By the time she was ready to leave I had a little over 500 in my stack. Not bad for my second time playing 1/2nl live.
Friday night we ended up at the Palms pool to see G. Love and the Special Sauce and some band called the expendables opened for them. What a nice place to see a concert. Drinks were a tad expensive, but you can't beat the pools and the black jack tables by the bar.
Saturday tried the Caesars tournament again this time played a little looser and more agressive. One hand that really bothered me, I was on the button with TT. Blinds were 50/100. MP2 raises it up 3x and one caller to me and I call. Flop came out 864 with two clubs. Middle position bets 400, late position raises to 1200 and I go into the tank. Finally I say to the table I can't believe I have to lay this down and toss the cards into the muck. First raiser folds and the guy to my right shows 99. I sparked some table conversation when I told them I laid down the best hand.
I got knocked out a few hands later when I reraised an early position raise with AKo. He genuinly looked like he had to make a decision and then decided to reraise. I misread him obviously when I pushed and he turned over AA. Hopefully I'll get better at reading with more practice.
Saturday night had a great dinner at the Prime Steakhouse @ the Bellagio and went out pretty hard that night. Woke up sunday and played some 1/3NL at the Wynn. Didn't do too much either way while the girlfriend was eating (got up about 80) and right after I lose two decent pots shes shows back up ready to play. Unfortunatley there weren't any limit tables in her range so we went to the Imperial Palace.
Bought in the 1/2nl game for 200 (max) and played it up to 500 and had some really interesting hands. Chinese guy from early position makes it 7 to go and I look down at 8 T and call. Flop brings me 7 10x 6 Early player leads out for 10 and I raise to 25. Turn was the K and it was checked to me I bet 50 and was called. River was a black 9 and I think he hit his straight. He checks again and I bet 50. He doesn't take long to reraise me to 100 and I call. He turns over J 3 and I lose a big pot.
A while later that table breaks up and I'm move over to a bunch of strangers. The first hand I sat with 8T on the button and limped in. Hit top pair on the flop and bet. Turned the ten for two pair and bet again and the little bastard spiked a 7 on the river to catch a straight with his pocket 9's
ugh, went from 500+ to a little over 100 when I get QT of diamonds. Flop comes KJ8 all diamonds. A guy to my right bets 10 and I raise to 25 and he called. Turn brought the J clubs and he checks I bet about 40 and reises me all in. He shows his KJ and I don't catch the A or the 9 for my suck out.
Reload. Lost a few other small pots and played some pretty average poker until I got 7 8 in LP. Flop comes Q77 and first position check, I check and button bets 10. EP raises it to 25 and I push. He calls and turns over AQ. Turns an Ace but the dealer was kind enough to not bring either the A or the Q on the river and I double. Next hand I get KQ clubs and the flop came K33 I bet and was called. Turned a Q and the guy I had just doubled through pushes all in and has me covered. I quickly called and doubled up again. I won another small pot on the next hand and got back up to about 400. After tips and all I lost 2 dollars for the day. Not too bad for all the action.
Wow, sorry for the long and boring post but thought I would share my trip with you guys.
