I have not seen the Stud-8 tables so soft in months...

I'm not expert on this game but WTF was he doing thinking his Kings were good lol.

It appears that the guy with the Kings is not too familiar with the game either.

stop bragging

Stud/8 is overall probably the softest game around. About 90% of people I've played at 3/6 and lower grossly overvalue pairs and high/middle straight and flush draws.
That said ... Diamond, I can't get out of here without saying that you should have been jamming every street on both of those hands. Make those people pay a fortune for playing their high hands. They'll pay you off handsomely. Even if you end up splitting the pot with them, jamming them is hugely profitable in the long run. I know you'll disagree, but I just can't help myself.

You mean on 4th as well? He still only has a draw at that point, plus its on the cheaper street. I think he played it fine as is.
Posted Fri Aug 18, 2006 10:26 am GMT by flafishy
Absolutely on 4th. This is a drawing game, and you need to get hyper aggressive with your strong draws. Draws don't get too much better than this.
In each hand, it looks like you have at least one opponent who might be drawing to a high straight and, in the second hand, also a high flush or two. Get rid of him if at all possible because you don't want to split the pot with him. Even if he's just playing a high pair, you want to get rid of him. That way, if you miss your straight draw, you still might be able to scoop with a pair and a low.
Diamond argues in the case of Stud high that you don't want to build the pot up too early to give him pot odds to draw. After steadfastly arguing against that, I'm starting to see the light on that.
But that doesn't really apply here, as his pot odds are essentially going to be cut in half. He's never going to have correct pot odds to draw, so you either want to force him out or charge him a fortune to hang around.

WTF was he even doing in this hand to begin with?
Posted Fri Aug 18, 2006 3:53 pm GMT by xDiamond_CutteRx
Well I don't disagree with you fishy. Probably the only reason I didn't was that the people on the table were likely to pay you off with a made hand, so there was not as much need to get money in with a draw to maximize profit. Although jamming the pot (which probably would have been good for one extra bet from each player) is probably correct here. And certainly I'd jam with a 4-flush or 2345, so I'm not sure why I didn't here.
Next time.
