Situation: Multi-table tournament...I'm in mid position at my table; short stacked in comparison to majorit.....about 5th or 6th in chip count at my table
I'm dealt QJ diamonds.....blinds + 2 calls in front of me, I call; late position raises $4,000 (abt. half his stack); everyone else folds except the guy directly in front of me who calls the $4k (abt. 1/3 his stack)
$4k represents all my chips....I fold
Flop comes K,J,4 mixed
Turn comes J
River is 7
Original raiser has A,10 suited for Ace High
Winner has pocket 10's to make 2 pair 10's & J's
Had I stayed I would have won $12k + blinds which were (150/300?) with Trip J's
Should I have gone all in? This seemed like a turning point, I wasn't getting high hands b4 and not much after.....I essentially go so low in chips I couldn't compete....this hand would have given me breathing room...technically the fold seemed right, but I dunno....too passive?

Nah I think you made the right play. With a raise that size to you and the other guy calling it, I would have put both of them on high pockets or A K. It would have been hard for me to put all my chips in with Q J.

I think that you made the right call. W/ blinds of 150/300 and over $4k in chips, you are still VERY healthy. 2 doubles or a single triple and you are likely right back into the thick of things.
QJ w/ a raise of 10x the BB and a caller-you have to believe that you do not have the best hand. I never would be EXTREMELY hesitant to risk all my chips when I am at a disadvantage.

I agree with the two post ahead of mine. Unless you are on life support very late in the tourney or the blinds will eat you alive quickly, going all-in preflop with JQ is a risky venture. I too would have put them on either KA or a high/face pocket pairs.
I have folded with similar or better cards in that scenario. Most times I haven't regretted not taking the gamble, but occassionally you will fold a winner. It happens.

If you are going to play a hand like QJ suited for all of your chips, You had better be the one doing the raising. Otherwise, To quote my good friend Bill Walton, "lay them down big fella"

QJ is a definite fold to most raises especially all-in raises to you. If someone has so much of a king, they have the odds on you. More times than not, you will catch nothing and that means they win. If you catch they can draw to a better hand. Or if they have a pocket pair, your odds against are not great at all. Good move. I mean, 47 would have won that hand. If you were dealt 47 would you fold. Of course. Just sometimes it does hit, but keep playing the way you play and your folds will save you mroe in the long run than to play against the odds.

this is 100% true. 7 2o is gonna win occasionally too, doesn't mean you should make a habit of going all-in with it. you made a correct laydown IMO.
